    Hello hello!

I'm proud to say I just ordered myself an NP8662 from xoticpc.com and I'm soooo excited. Ive been using my same handbuilt desktop for a good 4-5 years now and its near death, so a new system is going to be great!

    Now for the important stuff!

My friend ironically just recently dropped his Targa Raptor-61 which is based off of the NP9262 model (Had an 8800 of sorts in it too) RIGHT after I installed a new wireless network and ordered mine and sadly it is recently out of warranty.

The screen itself is definately dead, shattered kind of damage because it somehow fell screen open screen first onto the corner of a coffee table after treating it pretty well for a while; luck just ran dry that day.

    Sooooo, what can he do?

Should he attempt to send it into Sager or some company that has dealings in such laptops? Should we try to find a WUXGA+ 1920x1200 17" screen and try to real man it and install it on our own???

Any tips would be highly appreciated! Thanks a ton!

its not too hard to switch LCD panels yourself.

just get the same panel that was broken... the back of the panel should have a sticker with all of the info you need.

is the rest of the system fine?
    - you can test by connecting it to an external display/monitor to see if it boots up and works.
