A few Sager questions for a beginner

WARNING very long and drug out.
Hi ,i've been looking to buy a gaming laptop for around a month, at first I though the M15x was right for me but not having a second hard drive really hurts it along with being very expensive. But basicaly after the alienware I thought the asus g73jw was the right choice but from what i've concluded it has only a 460m gpu which many people say is pretty weak. It also doesn't have RAID0.
But then I found Sager and so far i'm super impressed but I have a few questions.
1. Are they making a line with sandy bridge proccesors?
2. In the price range of 2,000 dollars what is the best machine for me( i have been looking at the NP8120 mostly)
3. Is their anywhere I can find some reviews of some of their laptops.
4. Benchmark scores?
5. Best place to order from?
6. Are you satisfied with it?
BTW things i need it to do are basicaly just play games at high settings

First of let me state i am by no means a proffessional, but i have been doing alot of research into getting a sager gaming laptop for the past 2 months or so.

First off, the new models of sager laptops with SB are do out some time around Jan 11 (atleast thats what a couple of reasellers have posted on their site). And the new high end Nvidia gpu should show up in their laptops then too (GTX485)
The second thing, as i have said i am still learning so i am not the best for that advice.
As for reviews, try NBR( notebookreview), notebookcheck.net, and just try googling the models you are looking at. Thats the best way i have found. I have found almost nothing but good customer reviews on Sager laptops. (sadly i dont own one yet, waiting for new models)
NBR and notebookcheck are good ways to find benchmarks, but i found the best way is to just ask people on NBR. They have been extremely helpful.
Malibal.com, pro-star, avadirect, sagernotebooks, and xoticpc's have good reviews for ordering from. i cant tell you which is the best from personal experience but i have done alot of research.

I know i dont know a whole lot but i hope it helps. everything i have read has pointed that sager are some of the best and most affordable gaming laptops.

 

1. SB will hopefully come in weeks
2. 2k is already a good price, sager np8760, 8210, np7280 are within your price range, those are high end already.
3. Here in NBR, sager and clevo or sager owner's lounges
4. Here in NBR there are benches, but they post the gpu that they use, like 470m benches, 470m sli benches etc.
5. it depends you can try sager.com, xoticpc, powernotebooks, malibal, eurocom and eon. these are resellers of clevo and there are some more.
6. you can check my sig i own a np7280, im obviously happy with it, in months i will do a 485 sli upgrade.

 

Ok thanks for the reply's it's nice to hear that SB are probably coming soon.But I have been reading around alot and have noticed a few more things so a couple of more questions
1. Are their really severe issues with the crossfire on the Np8120?
2. Could someone post results comparing the dual 5870's vs the 470.
3. Is 8gb of ram neccesary, and how much would it boost performance over 4 or 6?
Which one would be the better choice purely for gaming

1. im not sure about the crossfire, but 470m is a good card. still i think comparing xfire to a single gpu is a no brainer, but i think if you ask me about a single 5870 compared to 470, 470 should be better.

2. the results for 470m is here in the forums, it with the title 470m benchmarks, it should be easily seen here in forum pages 1 or 2, here in sager/clevo owners lounge and sager/clevo forums. in 5870CF im no sure, but there's Clevo W870CU owners lounge i think.

3. 4gb ram is enough for today's games, even at using a 64 bit OS. you can save the money for a better upgrade. like applying a thermal compound which is a good option.

Alienware m17x owners have also complained about flickering with their crossfire setups. I have not read any posts in the last 3 months about people having to disable SLI to get games to work.

The crossfire laptop is a better gaming machine. But you have the possibilities of running into issues with crossfire. But then you may not have any issues, so it's a crap shoot.

The ram upgrade price is what, 100 bucks? That's pretty close to what it'll cost at newegg. Though if you're not running any ram intensive programs, I probably wouldn't get it.

 

I saw the NP8170 and priced it out with a 485m and a 2.2 Core i7 (I assume Sandy Bridge?) for $2170.

God I want one.

 

The new systems look awesome i'll just wait for some guneii pigs to get them first to see if they have any huge problems and if they don't i'll get one of them.
