Since, it is getting nearer to its release date.. which is TBD.. but still we know that it will be about a month or so. I have a few question question =).
1. I know Santa Rosa will be different version of Core 2 duo, so what clock speeds are we looking at??? Will it be 1.8 to 2.33??
2. What would be the price range for this laptop?? Since it is replacing 5760, will the starting price be the same as 5760???
3.. My budget right now is about 2200..to 2300 dollars. Do you think I will be able to pull this rig? I'm looking for m570RU with 2ghz(santa rosa) chipset, 7950gtx(will upgrade it later), 160 gb hard drive, and at least 1 gig of ram.
4. Last but not least, when go 8800gtx replaces go 7950gtx, should I expect increase in stanard price of the notebook??
5. Will 570ru support centrino Montevina platform??? I'm thinking about upgrading both, cpu and gpu next year sometime.
I am thinking about getting this laptop in early July. Any input will be appreciated.

I'm interested in the 570ru as well. So maybe someone here can answer his questions?

Four "mainstream" notebook CPUs:
T7100 1.8GHz, 2MB L2-Cache, 800Mt/s FSB
T7300 2.0GHz, 4MB L2-Cache, 800Mt/s FSB
T7500 2.2GHz, 4MB L2-Cache, 800Mt/s FSB
T7700 2.4GHz, 4MB L2-Cache, 800Mt/s FSB
Two low voltage models:
L7300 1.4GHz, 4MB L2-Cache, 800Mt/s FSB
L7500 1.6GHz, 4MB L2-Cache, 800Mt/s FSB
and one weird budget CPU:
T5500P 1.667GHz, 2MB L2-Cache, 667Mt/s FSB
Given how keen you are on upgradeability, you should look into the Asus C90, which is built from the ground up to be upgradeable. -

Clevo gaming notebooks have had upgradeable GPU modular vidoecards since the nVidia 6800 Go's. Have you even glance at the Clevo Guide?!? I built my notebook with a 7800GTX, I was about to upgrade it to the 7950GTX... which I was going to purchase from RJtech or Pro-Star (There goes your "noone sells Clevo GPU upgrades" statement).
blueyedsoul, put it very well. The M570RU and D900C are pegged to be the highest-end gaming notebooks for the upcoming years. The Asus C90 may have upgradeability, but Asus [as well as other ODMs] are not ready to go head-to-head in the high-end gaming notebook market against Clevo and their resellers.
I believe that a high-end DX10 card should be available by Summer's end, although many Clevo vendors will avoid any rumor until it is official... which is understandable. -
LOL... so the price hasn't been confirmed?
-
But there probably will be a premium to own the new model when it comes out (like every other kind of new electronic) -
Sorry about that. I had read that Clevo used MXM, so I had checked MXM-Upgrade.com, who say it isn't MXM, and don't mention that upgrades are availiable. I know Clevo whitebooks are widely availiable, but I've only seen them with graphics card included.
I saw another article recently(which I now can't find), about Clevo displaying their new MXM-IV cards(outside of notebooks), so I assumed that they would not be backward compatible with the cards for the M570U, so I took it as unlikely that a 7950gtx would show up.
If the M570RU *is* released with a 7950gtx option, and I can be sure 8800 upgrades will be availiable later, then I'm gonna have to get one, as the main reason I'm having trouble deciding on a notebook is that I'm waiting for real performace tests on the 8600, as it's desktop equivalent is incredibly poor.
And finally, no I don't work for Asus, but I would have jumped on the C90 if it didn't use a desktop processor. -
I don't see the DX10 card being any slower then the 7950GTX... why would they do that.. It would be nice if they could do the new nVidia core even underclocked, but also make it fit the original 5760.. at worst we would be running at our current speeds which are not bad but at least we would have basic DX10 support... I know.. I know.. not going to happen.. but I care to dream what if's.

Man, I'm getting hyped for the m570ru. I think this is a future proof laptop for at least 2 years.
-
the current Clevo M570U is already future proof for 2-3 years at least. The 7950GTX within it will still be high-end years from now.
The M570RU will be the same, but with a new videocard module design, which would make it a bit more future-proof. -
yeah, but you don't normally keep a computer for 3+ years... especially a laptop. I think using an electronic for 2 years and still performs decently after 2 years is pretty damn good investment for 2k.
-
I built my D900K last March 2006, it should easily last me another 2-3 years... especially if I get the new high-capacity 7200rpm HDDs... and maybe just finally upgrade to the 7950GTX.
-
Just wanted to say that I don't really care what they call it, but nVidia knows nothing about Type IV and Clevo confirmed that there is no compatibility with other MXM Types.
-
Oooh, while I remember, since the M570RU is going to be built on Santa Rosa, has anyone heard anything regarding Intel Turbo Memory/Robson being availiable in the M570RU?

What Ice-Tea said was important. Who knows what MXM IV is when NVidia (MXM standard creator) doesnt know what it is! How can you upgrade to a true MXM IV when NVidia makes it with their standard?
I have a feeling the MXM IV that Clevo is stating is fluff and is probably MXM III with Clevo's brackets or such. More marketing than anything so people will think its an upgrade and more futureproof.
I can of course be wrong.
Listen to Ice-Tea, he knows his stuff when it comes to MXM! -
Clevo has always made/design their own videocard modular designs, which have [up to now] have always been proprietary.
MXM (standard) or not, their videocard modules still make it possible for future upgrades.
So no big deal. -
I wonder if I'll be getting my Sager Santa Rosa at all before I leave for China
. I have to get it by early July at latest.
-
Maybe they'll have a fresh from factory early release there?
-
Lol, perhaps they have a vendor table at the airport, that'd be nice
.
A few question on m570ru
