Hey all, I've been reading through a lot of the posts in this forum over the last few days and they've all been really helpful...
On the advice i read, I've repasted both my GPU (Nvidia GTX 485M) and CPU (intel Core i7 2720QM) with IC Diamond and FurMark has indicated a 5 degree drop in my load temps, from 87 degrees to 82 degrees (1920x1080, fullscreen, 8xMSAA and dynamic camera enabled) both readings taken after 40 minutes of stress testing (sitting on an el-cheapo Logitech N120 cooling pad). Still awaiting delivery of my CM Storm SF19 before doing another test of it
Anyway, I have a few questions to ask. The most important one is if anyone can direct me to a USB3 Driver for this laptop that doesnt crash after a few minutes... I've tried the drivers (and firmware) found on station-drivers.com, and the ones found in the "Clevo Driver Thread" on this forum, but nothing has helped. I've had the laptop for the best part of 6 months, and had the problem when i first got the laptop, and eventually found the correct driver to fix the problem, however i reinstalled win7 onto the computer a couple of days ago (i do it every 6 to 12 months) and I havent been able to find the right driver this time around.
Secondly, I think the temps i posted above aren't too bad, but its not too unhealthy for a laptop graphics card to regularly sit between 80 and 90 degrees whilst gaming is it?
And lastly, I love how easy it is to disassemble and reassemble this laptop. Its very well designed in my opinion and i'll probably buy another clevo in the future. When i had repasted my GPU i came around to thinking "Is there a better, cooler GPU available for this laptop than the Nvidia GTX 485M?" I'm not an expert when it comes to laptop graphics cards, and am unsure of what "Connection type" it plugs into (i havent been involved in computer hardware intimately since i was in TAFE about 10 years ago... when Intel was boasting about Hyper Threading on socket 478's)
Well, Thanks in advance for your time, effort and knowledge.
Ashley.

Have you tried the USB 3 driver at the below?
Software Upgrade

I wonder whether an old version of the driver might be more reliable than a later version... I'll try uninstalling my current version and just using that version to see if thats the case -

Also to address your question about temperatures. Temps in the 80C range are fine, especially if that's the highest you get. These GPU's are designed to take temps up to 95C or so. Staying under 90C is great

Thanks Malibal, much appreciated.
As for the USB3, i noticed when uninstalling the USB3 drivers (using device manager) that theres some software installation that tags along with it, and i didn't notice that until i went into add/remove programs. Suprisingly i found two Renesas USB3 installations, so i've deleted both and installed the one that Larry's link had. USB3 is currently working, though normally it works for a half hour or so after rebooting the laptop anyway. I'll let you know if that fixes the problems.
Thanks again guys.
Edit: that driver failed just a short while ago... still looking -

Yeah I am already running that firmware. I re-downloaded and attempted to reapply it just to be sure, and it tells me i'm already running that version.
I've managed to download another driver from Clevo which for some reason with their ftp servers I wasn't able to download yesterday. So i've got them installed and i'll see how they go. Apart from that, its 1:20am and i have to work tomorrow, so i'm heading to bed and i'll check to see the results in the morning before work.
Thanks for all your help so far -
Nope, Clevo USB3 Drivers also crash...going to go back to the outdated ones on the CD that came with the computer...

Intel also hosts some Renesas drivers: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=19880

I think the old drivers that came on the driver CD are working so i'm going to stay with them for another couple of days, then i might try those drivers you suggested. I prefer staying with the latest updates but im sick and tired of installing USB3 drivers at the moment
That, and I've just recieved my CM Storm SF19 Cooler Pad, and i want to test its effectiveness.
I'll let you all know how effective it is once i've done a 40 min Furmark test
A few things for the P150HM- IC Diamond Repaste, GPU Upgrade and Freakin USB3 Drivers
