All of a sudden tonight my laptop won't boot up anymore. With just battery in it won't start, with battery removed and wall adapter plugged in it won't start either. The lights for battery charging and adapter plugged in are on and orange like they should be when the laptop is off and the battery is charging, but when I try to turn it on the lights blink off then a second later come back on orange instead of turning green and starting up.

    is going on?

Does the notebook POST (any Phoenix/Sager logos on screen)?

My NP2090 recently crapped out from not POSTing.

No it doesn't. It does nothing. No fans turn on, no posting. Nothing.

My google-fu isn't turning up a user manual for it which may be of help.

What about trying one or more of these general tips?
    -Unplug all external devices usb/monitor/etc
-Pull out battery, unplug from power for a few minutes
-Air out / clean / bang your keyboard. I ran across a dell latitude with a stuck keyboard once at work that had similar symptoms. (although I think it beeped too)
-Open laptop, reseat memory/hdd and make sure nothing is amiss like a blocked fan or... uh... liquid in the laptop (roommate spilled his pepsi in it?)
-Hold power button for 10-15 seconds

Also a question: do you hear any fan noise at all?

The Sager NP3880 is built on the Clevo M38AW, and the user manual (but not the service manual) can be downloaded from Clevo's website here, or directly downloaded from this link or this link. Just FYI, a 5-language version covering English/German/French/Spanish/Italian can also be downloaded.

EDIT: The service manual might be available from some of the other hits that turned up in this google search, but I can't vouch for that.

See mine just powers on and the fan spins up. You're not the first with this problem and now that more people are reporting the same thing I wonder why the motherboard craps out like this...

The optimistic side of me hopes it's just the laptop stuck in sleep/hibernate mode or something. I hate to see good hardware go bad.

Did you try the unplug the battery and let it sit for a few minutes? Also what about trying the Fn+Esc "sleep mode" button?

I think the rest of the hardware is fine, or at least mine was. It's just the motherboard that's gone-- I'm using my old hard drive in my new computer now for example, and I'm sure the turbomemory, wifi and ram are still fine.

Not yet, I am going to try my hand in eBay as soon as I get back to my digital camera (left it in college--oops.)
