So i think i will order this from MALIBAL. Since none of my family heard of sager so they are totally being not supportive (this computer is too powerful, you won't need that much, should buy from big brand-name, the battery is only 2~3hr, should be for college, too heavy for you...etc) and then i get all paranoid, so i really want to get things straight.
These are my selections:
-15.6" 1920 x 1080 FHD LED Backlit 95% NTSC Color Gamut Matte Display
-Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM, 6MB L3 Cache, 2.0-2.9GHz
-500GB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA 300
-8X Multi DVD+/-R/RW RAM Dual-Layer Drive
(what is this?? just dvd player?)
-Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium; 64-bit
-Intel® 6230 Advanced-N 802.11A/B/G/N LAN and Bluetooth Card
(Intel® 6300 Ultimate-N make like a big difference???)
-Stock OEM Thermal Compound, CPU & GPU <<< I heard from others that is not necessary to get a IC Diamond 7 Thermal Compound, CPU & GPU if i am not an intense gamer???But what if i leave the computer on for a long period of time????How long does it take to get really heat up??
-3 Year Ltd. Labor and 1 Year Parts Warranty with 24/7 USA-Based Support
<<< What does this mean?? I care about if i have ANY problem with the laptop(in 1 year at least), they will be able to fix it for me, free of charge
-
-EXTRAS: Integrated 2.0 Megapixel Web Camera,
Integrated 9 in 1 Card Reader,
Integrated Fingerprint Reader,
MALIBAL Software & Drivers Disc(What is this??)
Microsoft Windows 7 DVD-ROM,PowerDVD & Bison Cam Software Package(burn DVD?) -
Skysblue, I would touch base with Ken Lee who runs this site GenTech PC - Systems
He is a total expert AFA gaming rigs.
That optical drive will read/write CD and DVD (no bluray though)
A properly desinged machine like you are about to get should not heat up much past the idle temps while you are not gaming.
I have left my ASUS on when I first got it for 24 hours (no hibernate or sleep) and the temp stayed below 50 C with 22 C ambient temp.
You do not mention the Video card, it seems the site I linked has some with optimus so you can use the integrated graphics only for extended battery life and I would guess cooler operation.
Hope this helps -
buy it!
similar specs to mine

What is this thread asking? -
I just really care about the warranty.
Yeah, and then since EVERYONE has laptop in college, is hard to even find a plug or something. Is a downer. -
With the Standard 3yr Labor & 1Yr Parts Warranty, everything will be covered for the first year, including all shipping, labor and parts. After the first year, only the labor will be covered on warranty work. Also, if you purchase the OS from us - we install it and all of the drivers. We give you the MALIBAL Software & Drivers Disc and Microsoft Windows 7 DVD-ROM in case you ever need to reinstall the OS.
PowerDVD and BisonCam are programs that you can use with the optical drive and webcam. In regards to the Wi-Fi and Thermal Compound - the Intel 6230 is probably your best option... and IC Diamond can keep your laptop a few degrees cooler, but it isn't by any means necessary.
Edit: The 8X Multi DVD+/-R/RW RAM Dual-Layer Drive can play and burn DVD's. -

And for the "Additional Smart Li-ION Battery", is it installed inside?? how many extra hours does that give? How much heavier does that make?? -
-
I don't know how does it feel to carry a 7pd item around o_o..well, i use 8lb bowling ball..
i will be a freshman in college, so i dont know hows life gonna be exactly.

Haha, I'm a college student still looking for the perfect PC for the lifestyle.
Desktop PCs are just too stationary. It's anecdotal, but the guys I know who are tied to their desktops just also happen to be shut-ins.
Netbooks are popular, but are obviously not powerful enough for the likes of usThey are nice to have for everything else though, especially schoolwork!
17 inchers are just too big. You can't lug them to class, you can barely lug them around to hang out with friends. A friend of mine would always carry around his giant Asus 17 inch gaming laptop around with a power brick and a mouse. It was incredibly awkward. I myself am sporting a 17 inch Asus as my main rig and, honestly, it's a fine machine and all, but not the most friendly for college life. It's portable, but not quite enough.
A lot of people suggest a netbook/desktop combo. It's a fine idea; that combination will likely cost you about just as much as a real good laptop, but I like all my stuff in one machine. Two is inconvenient and awkward.
I'm looking into the same machine you're after and, to me, it sounds perfect. It looks to be a perfect size; small enough to carry around but big enough to pack some power. The battery life is enough to last you through class and... most things, really. There's plenty of power outlets around college campuses; if there weren't, you wouldn't be the only one angry. Everyone needs them nowadays! I wouldn't worry about it not being good for college life... I'd just like to know how you feel about it once you get it!
I am a little worried about heat and noise though, but have been reassured by some here that those are satisfactory... nothing like being the guy in class with the annoying laptop or having a scaldingly hot laptop on your lap when you're not around a desk. -
As much as i (might) like the model, a "store" that is so far away makes everything inconvenient x_x so i am really paranoid now. PLLLLEASE (pray) problem free.

I've heard the same thing. Apparently Clevos have some of the best cooling in the market. But you'd think that would mean there would be a lot of fan noise? I've heard that that wasn't too loud either :O
I mean, I'm all for raving, but somethings gotta give... either that, or this is the perfect machine that's all of slim, portable, powerful, quiet, and cool. Boy, would that be great. -
-
You'll be fine. Seeing as you bought from a reputable vendor, in the unlikely case that something goes wrong, the worst that can happen is it takes a couple more weeks to get what you need. Sucks at the time, but in retrospect it will be no big deal. In the big scheme of things, it's nothing
-
I guess i just have to put faith in them, haha. Their service is amazing in terms of very fast reply (just few mins ago): "Hi, you can return it for service or for a refund.... don't worry we have perfect satisfaction history - so we will make sure you are satisfied."
-
Good luck with the purchase and decision
