So i think i will order this from MALIBAL. Since none of my family heard of sager so they are totally being not supportive (this computer is too powerful, you won't need that much, should buy from big brand-name, the battery is only 2~3hr, should be for college, too heavy for you...etc) and then i get all paranoid, so i really want to get things straight.

    These are my selections:
-15.6" 1920 x 1080 FHD LED Backlit 95% NTSC Color Gamut Matte Display

    -Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM, 6MB L3 Cache, 2.0-2.9GHz

    -500GB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA 300

    -8X Multi DVD+/-R/RW RAM Dual-Layer Drive
(what is this?? just dvd player?)

    -Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium; 64-bit

    -Intel® 6230 Advanced-N 802.11A/B/G/N LAN and Bluetooth Card
    (Intel® 6300 Ultimate-N make like a big difference???)

-Stock OEM Thermal Compound, CPU & GPU <<< I heard from others that is not necessary to get a IC Diamond 7 Thermal Compound, CPU & GPU if i am not an intense gamer???But what if i leave the computer on for a long period of time????How long does it take to get really heat up??

-3 Year Ltd. Labor and 1 Year Parts Warranty with 24/7 USA-Based Support
<<< What does this mean?? I care about if i have ANY problem with the laptop(in 1 year at least), they will be able to fix it for me, free of charge

Skysblue, I would touch base with Ken Lee who runs this site GenTech PC - Systems
He is a total expert AFA gaming rigs.
That optical drive will read/write CD and DVD (no bluray though)
A properly desinged machine like you are about to get should not heat up much past the idle temps while you are not gaming.
I have left my ASUS on when I first got it for 24 hours (no hibernate or sleep) and the temp stayed below 50 C with 22 C ambient temp.
You do not mention the Video card, it seems the site I linked has some with optimus so you can use the integrated graphics only for extended battery life and I would guess cooler operation.
    Hope this helps

this is for college? I am with your parents on this, the battery life of these laptops are not ideal for college.

    What is this thread asking?

    I forgot to mention , it is with NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560M 1.5GB GDDR5.
I just really care about the warranty.

Thats the EXTRAS section MALIBAL offers, but i don't know what the MALIBAL Software & Drivers Disc and Microsoft Windows 7 DVD-ROM (i have to install it myself???),PowerDVD & Bison Cam Software Package are about.

Yeah, and then since EVERYONE has laptop in college, is hard to even find a plug or something. Is a downer.

With the Standard 3yr Labor & 1Yr Parts Warranty, everything will be covered for the first year, including all shipping, labor and parts. After the first year, only the labor will be covered on warranty work. Also, if you purchase the OS from us - we install it and all of the drivers. We give you the MALIBAL Software & Drivers Disc and Microsoft Windows 7 DVD-ROM in case you ever need to reinstall the OS.

PowerDVD and BisonCam are programs that you can use with the optical drive and webcam. In regards to the Wi-Fi and Thermal Compound - the Intel 6230 is probably your best option... and IC Diamond can keep your laptop a few degrees cooler, but it isn't by any means necessary.

Edit: The 8X Multi DVD+/-R/RW RAM Dual-Layer Drive can play and burn DVD's.

All depends on what you're going to use it for. :)

I thought the same thing too. There are benefits to buying from a big brand name, but what I've realized is that if you're competent with computers the benefits of a sager/clevo outweigh them. A clevo is built to be easy to customize, perform well, and last a long time. You'll also enjoy a clean install of Windows (none of the extra stuff dell and the others put on) and the ability to exchange the parts without voiding the overall warranty. It really all depends on what you want your experience to be. :)

I was worried about at first too but I'm not the "road warrior" type. Low battery life is a tradeoff you have to make for a gaming computer. People don't buy MALIBAL laptops for battery life ;)

The P150HM is only about 7 pounds, not including the power brick.

Yep. It will play and burn DVDs. The other two options is a drive that burns DVDs and plays Blu-ray disks (the one I have) and a drive that plays and burns both DVDs and Blu-ray disks.

The 6300 has better range and speed, but doesn't have bluetooth support.

Idle temperatures usually aren't a problem. Most CPUs and GPUs underclock themselves when idle (and on battery power) and don't produce much heat anyway.

That means you have a warranty for 3 years, but if you need any extra parts you'd have to pay for them after 1 year.

Okkkkkk let me rephrase the warranty part. For the first year, i can have it fixed unlimited for free if i have any problem with it, but for the 2nd and 3rd year, is only free for the labor, and i have to pay for the parts. Correct?

And for the "Additional Smart Li-ION Battery", is it installed inside?? how many extra hours does that give? How much heavier does that make??

The drivers disk is a disk containing all the drivers needed to run the system. The MALIBAL I got had all the drivers installed when it shipped, so I didn't have to install any drivers to get it to work. PowerDVD is software used to create DVDs and play DVDs and Blu-ray disks, and Bison Cam software is a basic manager for the integrated webcam.

If you're not gaming at all, you might want to consider a different clevo model. XOtic sells a lot of different clevo models than MALIBAL sells. Look for something that implements nvidia optimus technology, which greatly improves battery life (none of the MALIBAL models do).

It's an extra battery. It's not installed in the computer, but what you can do is Hibernate the computer when the first battery gets too low and switch out the battery, effectively doubling your battery life.

7 pounds is actually pretty average for laptops for 15 inch to 16 inch screens. :)

I'm not super familiar with the other clevo models, but there's the clevo W150HR that has a good mid-range video card and supports nvidia optimus. XOtic says that model has about 3-5 hours of battery life. There's a lot of reviews of different clevo models in the Owner's Lounge sub-forum, so I'd explore that. :)

Yeah, as long as the video card and motherboard are compatible. The reseller you end up buying your laptop should be able to help you with those kind of questions.

Well, I guess you'll have to do more research. I can't decide for you which laptop will work best for you, because I'm not you. Just because a MALIBAL laptop was a perfect fit for me doesn't mean it will be a perfect fit for you. I must say, though, that a MALIBAL laptop is an extremely good laptop and you really get what you pay for. As far as gaming performance and build quality, not a lot beats it. :)

A better thermal compound does increase the efficiency of the cooling system. I'd ask the people over at the NP5165 owner's lounge thread what their experiences have been. I'm sure they'd be glad to help. :)

Haha, I'm a college student still looking for the perfect PC for the lifestyle.

Desktop PCs are just too stationary. It's anecdotal, but the guys I know who are tied to their desktops just also happen to be shut-ins.

Netbooks are popular, but are obviously not powerful enough for the likes of us :) They are nice to have for everything else though, especially schoolwork!

17 inchers are just too big. You can't lug them to class, you can barely lug them around to hang out with friends. A friend of mine would always carry around his giant Asus 17 inch gaming laptop around with a power brick and a mouse. It was incredibly awkward. I myself am sporting a 17 inch Asus as my main rig and, honestly, it's a fine machine and all, but not the most friendly for college life. It's portable, but not quite enough.

A lot of people suggest a netbook/desktop combo. It's a fine idea; that combination will likely cost you about just as much as a real good laptop, but I like all my stuff in one machine. Two is inconvenient and awkward.

I'm looking into the same machine you're after and, to me, it sounds perfect. It looks to be a perfect size; small enough to carry around but big enough to pack some power. The battery life is enough to last you through class and... most things, really. There's plenty of power outlets around college campuses; if there weren't, you wouldn't be the only one angry. Everyone needs them nowadays! I wouldn't worry about it not being good for college life... I'd just like to know how you feel about it once you get it!

I am a little worried about heat and noise though, but have been reassured by some here that those are satisfactory... nothing like being the guy in class with the annoying laptop or having a scaldingly hot laptop on your lap when you're not around a desk.

Oh boy, since college starts 8/23 for me, dont you need a laptop soon. I plan not to take my laptop out of the dorm room that much unless i am going to the library.. i enjoy taking notes by hand and pencil. About the heat, i google it over and over again and people do claim is very cooling. Thats the reason i pick the 8130 over 8165 , 8165 heat was just....bad...

I've heard the same thing. Apparently Clevos have some of the best cooling in the market. But you'd think that would mean there would be a lot of fan noise? I've heard that that wasn't too loud either :O

I mean, I'm all for raving, but somethings gotta give... either that, or this is the perfect machine that's all of slim, portable, powerful, quiet, and cool. Boy, would that be great.

You'll be fine. Seeing as you bought from a reputable vendor, in the unlikely case that something goes wrong, the worst that can happen is it takes a couple more weeks to get what you need. Sucks at the time, but in retrospect it will be no big deal. In the big scheme of things, it's nothing ;)

hahah yeah, shipping it back for a fix will take a while... and without the laptop during school sucks.

I guess i just have to put faith in them, haha. Their service is amazing in terms of very fast reply (just few mins ago): "Hi, you can return it for service or for a refund.... don't worry we have perfect satisfaction history - so we will make sure you are satisfied. :)"
