    Hey guys,

I was checking on my 8800m GTX SLI configuration (see sig) and i discovered something strange:

The version numbers of the video bioses of my master card and slave card are different. Now I'm not sure if this causes any trouble, but when I first activated SLI, Windows/Nvidia Control Panel notified me that they were not connected properly. I checked in game with the SLI status bar (the green thing) and it showed up alright so I assumed everything was ok. Should I be looking for a matching version number for my second card (which was added later btw, bought it from ptaleotis)?

    Thanks for your help guys.

i dont think bios versions will conflict with anything since in desktop world you can mix and match different cards, oftentimes.

did you just instal SLI? if nvidia driver tells you sli is not properly set up you will get glitchy sli performance, despite the green bar lighting up all the way.

can you check to ensure the sli ribbon cable is installed properly? on the ribbon itself is labeled JSLI. JSLI_1 goes to the far end gpu at end of chasis and JSLI_2 goes to the gpu in the middle in between the other gpu and ram. this is one reason you will get the warning messege.

Yah, when I had my desktop SLI rig, I had 10x more errors and quirks than I did with a single card setup. Usually re-installing and/or installing a different driver solved the issues eventually. One time I actually switched the slave card with the master and it fixed some odd fan speed glitch. So you just check the ribbon cable first as ARGH suggests, and then I would go about installing a different version of a driver ( sometimes an older one is better ). I remember a 104. something was the most stable driver I ever had for SLI, yet if I tried a 105. half my games wouldn't work, or I would have more crashes.

    Thanks for the input guys,

I'm in China right now and I won't return to Germany until mid August. By then I'll try to reseat the SLI-cable (which I did 2 times while installing after that error message about a missing connector showed up). I'll also check the labels, I didn't know there were differences - I suspect that might be it. Would suck if my own stupidity ed up this thing :/

I'll also try reverting to older drivers and see if that works better after checking the SLI connector.

Thanks again for the input guys!

Ok I finally had some time to sit down and turn around the SLI connector and LO behold, ARGH's tip worked and now my SLI is finally working as it should!

Thanks a lot guys :) I post this just for completion's sake in case anybody is looking for the same thing.
