I've owned the Sager 5760 for almost a year now, and I've been very impressed with the way it's stacked up. Undoubtedly the pinicle of DX9 technology.
The graphics power still hold up against the tougher games, tho (a small review forthcoming =3) there are a few small nitpicks. The caseing around the keyboard... the silver paint rubs off a bit with wrists touching it, so I've got dark spots where I havn't used packing tape to protect heh. Also, the sensor that detects when the lid is down does not work anymore, but I dont use that feature anyway.I have to keep turning off the touchpad every time I turn it on or I end up scaring myself ouiji style when my fingers drift while typing heh.
The biggest misgiving I have is that people can get the same laptop I have with a better video card and more advanced processor for what looks like less than what I paid! Everyone who has misgivings about the 5760, JUST BUY IT. ^^
Another small issue I have tho is the lack of up to date drivers. Nvidia are just jerks for making us use their official Go drivers which are older than my laptop is. O_O Tho I've made good use of the drivers at LaptopVideo2Go. (Tho I ran into an issue conserning a missing nvucode.bin file in the driverset that I had to scavange from the guru3d version of the drivers, who had caused the problem by misnaming that file in the first place. Real geniuses these guys...) Still, video aside, all the other drivers on the sager driver site are just as old. (The non-vista ones) I'm looking to trade up to a bigger HD, one of those 100gb models and I figure now is as good a time as any to reformat. Unfortunately I cant seem to find the spicific model of sound card the 5760 uses, I'm not an expert at the hardware and I dont want to wait for sager to update their page.
So if it isnt too much trouble, could someone look around for updated versions of the device drivers like wireless, sound, modem, LAN, card reader and other drivers for the 5760 so I can make sure my leet gaming laptop is up to date?
P.S. BUY THIS LAPTOP, haha.
Edit: Oh wow, I just found another problem with this laptop. Apparently you cant get the WSXGA screen with it anymore. I'd say 1680x1050 is about the highest rez you want to play games at, as a lot of them I play dont go any higher than that, and I can BARELY play Oblivion at high settings on my video card. So unless the 7950 is a LOT better than the 7900 I have, you might want to try getting this laptop with the WSXGA screen, the WUXGA might tax your video card a little too hard if you want to play at native resolution.![]()
A request for more recent drivers.
