So, as some of you know, I've recently upgraded to the 680m from a 7970m. It's been great so far with one small issue: No dx10/11 applications seem to run. For example, running Kombustor on anything other than dx9 causes a crash, and starting up Civ5 in dx11 mode causes a CTD as well. Same thing with Deus Ex: Human Rev on dx11. What would you guys suggest? A Windows reinstall?

no idea what could cause that. what graphics driver have you got loaded. maybe a manual clean in safe mode might do the job but this is just a guess.
    walkthrough below.

wow, actually sounds pretty major/irritating rather than slight/small. :p

which driver version are u using? have u also made sure that both ur ram heatpads and core paste job are done properly? just saying since dx10/11 also usually uses more ram and generates more heat than dx9.

I'm running 310.90, and yes, the install is right and everything is perfect. Yesterday I tore through the walking dead game (dx9 I know) for a good 6+ hours with absolutely no problems and sub-60 temps. It's just dx10/11 games that refuse to work. I think I'm going to try a driver fusion install to remove any remnants of the old AMD drivers and try an nvidia reinstall. I'll report back.

Okay, so after a driver fusion nuke and reinstall, the same problem. Persists. Ignoring games and using Kombustor as the most accurate reflection of the problem, when attempting to run a GPU burn in test, ONLY DirectX 9 functions. OpenGL 2, 3 and DirectX 10 and 11 both cause a CTD.

Sorry for the double post, but it's worth noting that running Kombustor with the iGPU only allows OpenGL 2 and 3 to work as well as DX9, but DX10 and 11 still CTD.

No, I do not. I ordered before that whole deal got set up. At this point I think I'm just going to do a Windows reinstall and start fresh. At this point it's the best way to weed out any problems. I'm currently downloading the most current system drivers for my machine.

Again, sorry for the consecutive post, but reinstalling Windows seemed to do the trick, although I'm now running on the driver Sager hosts on their site. I'll try updating to the newest later.

I had a feeling replacing the GPU, especially GPU brands, would cause an issue. Good to see that reinstalling Windows worked.

Had the same issue on my 675mx when i first got it. Tried installing drivers from Sager site, didn't work. Used the nvidia panel to check for updates, found one, installed it, DX11 on Saint's Row 3.

And if you have never seen a giant purple "personal massager" in DX 11, well then you just haven't lived my friend.

Oh, I have, and it is truly a glorious sight. :D Everything's working perfectly on 310.90 now, going to run a 3Dmark11 later today to compare with my previous 7970m scores.
