Hi,
I have a Sager NP8150 equivalent Clevo notebook with an AUO11ED matte display. Several days ago, after a routine cleaning, I noticed a small spot in the center of the display, that won't go away no matter what. On closer inspection, the spot appears to be *inside* the screen. It is also not visible when the display is unpowered. It can only be seen on bright background and looks like regular grime, which is why I can't determine when it appeared, but I don't think it was there when I unpacked the notebook.
The notebook didn't suffer any falls, shocks or anything like that and the only time I touch the screen surface is when I clean it with a soft cloth. However, I can't prove any of this. I didn't buy the "perfect screen" warranty upgrade (it's only valid for 6 moths and only concerns dead pixels anyway). My reseller has offered to take the notebook in for inspection.
So, my question is, what could be the cause of this and what are my chances of getting the screen replaced. I know that every reseller is different, but I'd sill like to gather opinions and see if such an RMA has any chance of succeeding before I part with my notebook for who knows how long.

So, I have noticed a similar issue with my Dell D620 (5 years old of constant use always carried in my backpack which goes everywhere with me and has been tossed around a lot an only been turned off about 10 times in 5 years.). It started slow, and has slowly been creeping up and getting worse. I believe it's the beginning signs of a potentially worse problem in your case(as pictured from my Dell D620's LCD). The pictures were taken with a camera phone so they are not the greatest, but you get the point. I would defiantly make sure re-seller identifies that it is a problem. BTW - I just cleaned the screen of the Dell before I took this pictures.

I had a similar issue in the past with an HP mini. I bought it new when they had just come out and after 2 months I saw a similar spec on the middle of the screen. I know it wasn't there to begin with so I thought I'd have best buy replace it since I maxed out on the warranty. As time went by the spot got bigger and bigger.
A couple years later (right before warranty was to run out) I decided to turn it in to have the screen and a hinge fixed....
They wouldn't fix the screen because it was considered "normal wear" but then they took it in to fix the hinges. I got a call back a few days later telling me they'd give me store credit because they couldn't fix the hinge either
It wasn't a dead pixel... it was some spot between the glass cover and the screen itself. -
I had a similar problem with my old Dell(from sig) starting earlier this year. About a month or two ago my screen had visible difficulty "warming up" when being awakened. Last week the monitor completely failed. I can't say that the same thing is going to happen to you, but if it's similar to yours, I can't say it's a good sign!

@ Larry@LPC-Digital:
Yes, it's near the upper boundary of the central "black" area. The "pixel address" is approximately 785,385p (+-5 in all directions) on my 1920x1080 screen.
@ shishkabob:
From own experience with prior notebooks, I know that some of those spots (the ones with the black dot center and a gray "halo" around it) appear after the screen is hit with something sharp from behind, hard. I've never seen so many on one screen, though...
@ ownasaur:
Did they replace the screen or grant you a refund, then?
@ DruePhoenix:
Did your screen get a red hue right after being powered, which then gradually went away?
@Unlicensedhitman:
A dead pixel in the central area usually counts faster towards the "critical mass" after which the screen warranty kicks in. No idea about these non-pixel spots, though.
A spot in the display? (P150H, AUO11ED)
