Thanks to my WIFE (who actually allowed me to blow 2k+ on this 5760 thing) and R & J Tech who even after 4 hour later I found out I forgot to warn the bank of this purchase.. (The bank actually declined there first attempt at my purchase.) was nice enough to try again after my wife called me at work to let me know what happened..

Even with cash discount offers from other vender.. R&J Tech is a tough deal to beat. And even on the phone I manage to get a slightly better deal because I just had to have 2gigs of ram and when I question the toshiba drive they were going to stick in my lappy the guy on the phone said no problem and said he could have my perffered brand drive installed.. (I wanted Seagate; after all when they generally offer a 5 year warrenty up front on there drives they must really beleave in their product. And personal experience with them in my desktop I just had to stick to this brand.)

Now I'm just waiting for this thing to ship.. Hope this thing is worth the money. I was orignally going to build a desktop.. but when I came across this website with so much info on the Clevo line I just got excited with the idea of such a neat concept of a "Desktop Replacement".

I would also like to personally thank Gophn for his great Sticky Clevo Guide and other user input in regards to the Clevo 5760 and their personal experience..

and thank you for the red flags about possible issue with some venders.

I hope this turns out to be positive experience in the end..

    My Ordered config..
Orignally wanted ATI because of the low CPU Driver Use but ATI is sorely lagging since the AMD thing.

Display: 17 WSXGA+ (wanted the happy medium. UXGA is too small.)
Video Card: nVidia 7950 GTX 512MB (Drool)
CPU: T7200 4mb cache (had to have 4mb, do play with 3d rendering.)
    DDR2 Memory: 2GB DDR2/667 - 2
    CD: 8x DVD+/-RW DL
    WLAN: Intel 3945ABG + Bluetooth

    other stuff is a given..

Thanks to this great community I know I made a sound choice.. sorry for the improper formatting and poor grammer.. just excited about this whole ordeal.

I just got my Clevo 570u in the mail today from another vendor (xVxOnline.com) and it looks like we have a pretty similar setup.

So far, I am WAY happy with it, though to be truthful, I'm still getting my applications installed.

I did, however, take a little break to play City of Heroes at 1920x1200 and it was like the game was brand new! I can't wait to sink my teeth into some of the games I had been putting off. I think you will be very very pleased with that machine, it's just a hunch. :)

    Remember folks,
use the Fan Speed Toggle (Fn+F2) command when gaming to prevent overheating. ;)

I had an excelent ordering experience with RJ Tech and honestly recomend them to all my friends and co-workers interested in a notebook. I myself will perhaps purchase from them when I replace my D900k in a few years!

The price offered by RJ Tech to me just couldn't be beat and that was perhaps the number one deciding factor. The final deciding factor was they were one of the very few places offering barebone notebooks.

I was seriously considering RJTech before finally settling on PowerNotebooks for my purchase.

You will not be disappointed in your new beast!!

Thanks for the info on RJ Tech. I'm also looking at them for the purchase of M570U.

RJTech is very nice! He is willing to beat others prices and was so friendly. Great service. M570U is awesome and I am now able to overclock the CPU and video card. Things are kept cool via CPU throttling via RMClock ( www.rightmark.org) instead of through the BIOS. Love it!

My laptop is set to arrive tomorrow 3-19-07. I will then install XP and Kubuntu Linux. I personally love linux but windows is a must have for my games and some fav apps. No clue if Kubuntu will work but I have installed it on tricker setups, and I love making things work in linux when they don't at first.

Anyhow I'm pretty sure a driver CD is going to be supplied for this thing but I would prefer downloading most of the drivers knowing I installed the latest first time around.
is there a link page for all the hardware in this notebook.

I got a MX400 laser mouse for this thing.. I don't need some fancy gaming mouse and the MX400 felt right.. tho this is the first Logitech mouse to have owned. I don't plan on installing the bloat-ware software for the mouse unless someone just say its a must have..

Then some games... most of my games are old.. so till I can afford to buy a few game this will be underused lappy the first few weeks or month till I can recover from the pocket burn this thing is going to leave me. Or borrow a game or two from friends of mine.

I'm personally involved in "Dungeon Lords Collectors Edition" on this crappy computer and can't wait to get it to my new system.. I stopped playing this game in anticipation of my new machine. Dungeon Lords is so much fun but not for everyone but I love this game even if at time is seems unfinished.. Can't wait to also re-play "Giants: Citizen Kabuto". Recommend any good tech demos? seems to me a lot of the older game had more innovation then even some of the new games, tho thats not going to stop me from trying the latest and greatest soon.

Try Supreme Commander, a demo is out, it's an RTS game that was designed to work with multi-core processors and even multi-monitors! If you ever played Total Annihilation it's supposed to be similar. It's made by the same guy, Chris Taylor.

Is this a 'problem'? Isn't the fan supposed to auto spin up?

The fan is always on "Auto spin" (like in other notebooks).

Clevo gave its gaming notebooks the ability to toggle (Fn + F2) the Fan Speed from Auto Speed to Max Speed.

So you know that those notebooks were made for performance with such a cool feature.

I recommend to leave the fans on auto when there is casual use because the temps would be stable, but i always recommend to keep the system cool when gaming or doing heavy 3D work.

So these notebooks all come with power, as well as heat... which is not a problem, more of a variable that should always be accounted for.

Thanks for clarification. I was afraid for a sec there that my fan would not auto spin up when it needed too. I don't need to burn out my new laptop while playing Vanguard. :p

How did your linux installation go? Is your new laptop a 570U? I run Gentoo on my current laptop and just wanted to see how your experience with the installation went. I'm waiting for the 570RU (Santa Rosa) before making a purchase of either the 570U or 570RU (I wanted the 802.11n networking and was considering the 800MHz FSB), but after seeing pictures of the -RU I'm wondering if I'll be able to just upgrade the wireless card on a -U to the 4965 version. I liked the placement of output jacks and the multimedia panel on the -U much better!

Congrats on your machine! I hope to join you pretty soon...

you can put a wireless-N card in the M570U, its using a standard mini-PCIe.
