So I just finished reading this article ( http://www.anandtech.com/mobile/showdoc.aspx?i=2899&p=10) over at anandtech, and according to it the ABS Mayhem Z5/Clevo M570U suffers a big performance hit when running in anything but "Always On" mode. Is this the case in general? Is it specific to ABS versions of the notebook? Has it been rectified across the board?

    Thanks.

In the various option for power-saving modes, "Always On" is one of them. Basically, it keeps the computer from going to sleep/standby/shutting down, whatever. Apparently the ABS turns down performance while in a setting that allows for standby, etc. Possibly to save power (since it's in a power-saving mode) it runs things a little bit slower. The problem is, it does this even when plugged in, apparently.

I've got the 5760 and it's configured to go into Standby mode, but not Hibernate, and all works well.
