Just firing up a thread for the 8990m - I hear rumours of a November release on http://benyouhui.it168.com/

    - let the wild speculation begin!

let's talk about the 8990m's challenges and while it's important to highlight the 7970m issues, lets remember this is the 8990m bashsing thread :D

My thoughts are the 8970m (albeit most likely just a 7970m re-flashed) and it's drivers will pave the way for the 8990m - hopefully, fingers crossed, the 8970m release will run smoothly (forget competition, it just needs work this time IMO) and AMD will get back in the game with the 8990m !!

good luck to AMD, I hope they get it right this time, I like there competitive pricing!

Looking forward to it as well. Their net income has reportedly been on a slow rise; I'm hoping that trend continues for them after hearing about the $118 million loss last year. With the backlash they received on Enduro with the 7970M, things should be looking up.

There was once talk that a 7990M was a lock too.

And what exactly would the 8990M be? What desktop chip? Certainly not 20nm Volcanic Islands.

A rebalanced chip like the one in the 7790 was rumored but has yet to surface.

AMD needs to completely fix Enduro. That means working with Intel to ensure that games run as they should.

Intel are not exactly known for their co-operation in such things.

If its out in November, why not 20nm or Volcanic Islands? It will be out in Q4 this year. Fit the release date of 8990M pretty well.

Yeah we can bet on 20nm being out in Q4. I'll take the nay.

Seriously if AMD is going to have the entire 20nm mobile lineup by November, we're stupid to buy anything this Summer. The 8990M might be 2x the 7970M, right?

Avoid AMD until they can prove their mobile support for high end mobile. They have failed since 2008. I don't see it changing
