    Hi guys,

something's really wrong with my Clevo D900K running an AMD X2 4800+. First of, the clock speed is stuck at 1000MHz and does not go up when running some intensive apps such as WPrime. I hope that it's related to AMD Driver which is not installed. The problem is that the damn thing refuses to install; it always gives me an error "Cannot complete the Device Driver Installation Wizard". Does anybody have an idea where the problem could be? I contacted AMD support but they couldn't help. There are no other AMD programs installed.

it does go up, what program are you using to check the speed of the CPU?
... most do not show the dynamic speed.

When you are plugged in AC, the clock speed should be dynamic. From 1000Mhz to max speed when needed.

I recommend Notebook Hardware Control, or AMD Clock Utility.

I used the AMD Clock utility. To give you an idea how bad the performance is, I ran the WPrime 32M test and it took 86 seconds. I did the same test on the same machine but on a XP x64 partition WITH the driver installed and it only took 40secs.

You need to get the AMD drivers to install.... I am really not sure why its giving you any issues at all. Have you tried using the stock drivers (from the CD that came with your notebook)?

Then do the XP hotfix -OR- use the AMD optimizer... DO NOT use both.

I will give that a try. If all else fails, I may have to revert to an older backup.
