I can confirm that I no longer have major stutter issues in a few games I tried such as Shank and Skyrim with this driver. In Shank it's completely gone, and in Skyrim it's not 100% gone but it is considerably less visible and annoying. :)

Hey, I'm using the 2932 Intel drivers. I tried the newest Intel drivers with 13.6 beta some time ago but I had some trouble with that. Some games like Shank for example wouldn't run if I set them on High Performance. I haven't tried the newest one with this release, maybe I will when I have time.

As for any tweaks, no. My standard procedure every time is to simply express uninstall my current AMD drivers, and then install the newest one after the reboot.

I got this driver to work with the newest intel drivers. Still experimenting with games to see if this combination works best.

Can anyone actually post their actual framerate improvements from this driver compared to the 13.6 beta 2 driver?

I have the 13.6 beta 2 driver and have no trouble with any game. Someone mentioned Skyrim isn't stuttering anymore. Skyrim doesn't even stutter on the 13.6 beta 2 for me. I see no reason to update to this unless there is some concrete proof of 'actual' performance gain, even if its only 2-3 frames.

ok I just had a look at the release notes for the driver. It would seem metro last light has received a little fps boost(+7%). Not bad. However, I think I'll just skip this one. Why fix what isn't broken

I'm running intel graphics driver 15.31.9.64.3165 with this amd beta. I'm not entirely sure if any of my games are seeing any performance improvements, but I don't think anything has gotten worse. However, I would advise uninstalling all intel and amd graphics drivers before updating. I didn't do this the first time and was having problems.

Not sure if I need to put it here. I used to run LeekM's modded driver. Had GPU utilization running 99% then.. Then uninstalled that and installed 13.6 beta 2.. utilization is not 99% but framerates didn't decrease.. heat on the other hand went down 5-10c.. Then I tried these drivers (13.8) and after restarting games keep running 99% GPU Utilization.. Not sure if I there were old drivers still stuck.. or new one has full GPU utilization now..

Not exactly sure if it's lingering old files either, but this is exactly why I don't like using modded drivers. No offense to LeeKM's good intentions and hard work for the 7970M owners, but what he does AMD isn't aware of. When you install AMD drivers, the developers at AMD are unaware of what you had and assume you use only their official beta releases.

I had this happen but never used modded drivers. Uninstall all amd graphics drivers and application profiles, then uninstall the intel graphics drivers. Then install the newest intel graphics driver followed by the 13.8 driver. Make sure to reboot after each uninstall/install. This fixed the problem in my case.

This driver forces my second 7970M to run at max. clocks and didn't. let it idle, after I left a game.
Seems I am not the only one, with that problem!

Hi! I tried a different approach at first.. Didn't want to uninstall anything until I have exhausted all avenues. So what I tried at first was to download Machater's endurofix_exe. When I first ran it, it says fix was already applied.. so I did undo fix and rebooted.. But unfortunately fix was still there. So I uninstalled 13.8 and re-installed 13.6 beta 2.. That seems to work fine for now.. no 99% gpu utilization..

the 13.6 beta 2 already performs as well as the machater/leekm's fix. No need for that fix anymore IMHO.

    Hello,

I'm trying out 13.8 beta drivers on my 7970M single card, noticed that any game I run makes my GPU go 99%, be vsync on or off. Lets say GW2 runs at rougly 130fps and 99% GPU utilization, with vsync 60fps and still utilization on 99%.

Why is that? Is it a bug?

I don't think that's a bug. Vsync can be demanding because it has to sync every frame which prevents screen tearing.

This is sort of true. I think it is a bug because vsync shouldn't cause much more, if any, gpu utilization. V sync may cause more vram usage as it stores the next frame (double or tripple buffer). If there isn't enough vram, this can cause some latency, but it shouldn't really effect gpu utilization. If anything, v sync should cause lower gpu usage. For example, if max gpu usage results in 100fps, then 60fps could theoretically result in 60% gpu usage. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The gpu usage is indeed incorrect amd did something to it. This bug was already present in some of the previous drivers.

The usage isn't always incorrect. I was getting 80+C temp on my 7970m when it was reading a 99% usage, and the fan was going crazy. The problem was rather apparent when I opened but did not run Kombustor, and the GPU usage spiked to 99%. There is an over utilization issue with the 13.8 driver, but I haven't found a reliable fix for it yet besides reverting back to the 13.6 driver.

Is there any reason to upgrade to 13.8 Beta, if my laptop has a single GPU (7970M)? It runs on 13.4 WHQL.

There's no difference in temps and there is no "over utilization".

Run Kombustor for a couple of minutes and wait till you hit max temp. Use that as a guideline.

Either driver should pump out the same temps, give a take a few games, where they would perform significantly better or worse with each driver.

    cannot overclock with ab
and this driver does really hv gpu loading problem. only open kombustor dialogue alone can cause 6x% gpu loading and the temp rise rapidly. this never happened with old driver.

I've been using the 13.4 WHQL for a while now. I'm not updating until the next official set.

I have absolutelly zero probems with this driver, running flawlessly, performance seems a bit smoother on lower frames ( maybe its just a placebo), but overall its a great driver. I always try new drivers, and when they are bad, I'll just revert to the older one, with an ssd it takes like 8 minutes maybe less. I never uninstall the intel driver, jut the amd, reboot, driver sweeper, reboot and install new driver, and of course reboot again. I'm using the 2932 intel driver for a long time now and dont even bother uninstalling it, as it works fine( red somewhere that newer driver is broken with amd).
The only think I'm a bit dissapointed is far cry 3 as those balack boxes are still present in dx11.

When I want to overclock I just set in MSI afterburner cfg file Unnofficial overclock to 1 and regdit EnableULPS_NA 0. Thats all, always works.. If anybody is haveng problems feel free to send me a PM and I'll help out.

Strictly speaking, any kind of real time GPU utilization reading is an estimate. Calculating real utilization is expensive on its own.

I installed them and was playing some rogue legacy and every time I dashed it seemed really choppy.

Then I remembered that after installing the drivers it resets my refresh rate overclock, after a quick re-apply it was all back to normal again.

90hz is so much better than 60, though 120 would be ideal.
