Hey all couple of quick questions. First does the power adapter that comes with the 5793 work with 220Volts and 50Hz electricity outlets? I will be using my system in a foreign country with this setup so I wanted to know. I know it does state that its range is 200-240 volts and it has 50,60Hz written on it but I just wanted to confirm.

Also will this surge protector work with the 5793 adapter? It was recommended so I'm looking at getting it.

Also I ordered from Xotic, if I need a spare backup adapter should I order from them?

    Thanks!!

The AC Adapter is a full switching one that will change to whatever the output is. You just need to get the volt/plug adapter so that you can plug it in which you can buy at the local airport or something.

Ah yes, thanks. But what about that surge protector. Will it connect properly. I'm worried that 1 end of the plug only has 2 circles rather than the 3 circle plug of my adapter.

Also what about the spare adapter?

And wt hell minkang you got a 5796? What happened to your 5793? Also how does the 9800M GT perform?

Didn't get it yet, ordered it and waiting for it, should arrive sometime next week.
Hmm not sure about that, pretty much a $10 surge protector outlet will do the job now with life time warranty. Mines is a 3 pronged thing. Now you have to buy an outlet adapter that you will plug into with your surge protector. So it goes, Wall Socket (In Foreign Country), Plug Wall Adapter into socket, Then plug surge protector into the adapter.

    What happened to your 5793??

No I'm speculating its 2 prong. It may be 3 prong so I don't have to use a surge protector adapter.

Didn't like the fan noise to much, so returned it in the 30 day period. Planned on getting the 8660, but then found out release was pushed back till August 8th, which by then testing, building shipping would have been very close to the day i needed it. Based on a few people seems like Silent Mode does what it does so went with the 5796.

I don't think it is going to be much more silent than Fn + 3 on the 5793. And thats pretty acceptable mode for basic office work or browsing. If you think the 5796 will be quieter during gaming I sincerely doubt it.

To me the only reason to get the 5796 is for the 98 GTX but thats just me.

No no not for gaming, during idle work. According to the Sager Tech i spoke to, silent mode is a bit quieter than the 5793 low auto mode. He told me he compared both of them in a small room as he was getting alot of these questions.

What mode is Fn + 3 ? Is it just fixed speed mode? How would the sound compare to that mode?

I checked the APC site and it looks like its 2 pronged so I will probably need an adapter.

Notebookcheck.com shows the GTX not even being that much more powerful than the GT so I dont know if the GTX is even worth the money. I got the GT based off of those notebookcheck benchmarks plus I dont think its worth another $400 even if it does have a 5-10 fps improvement. thats about 6-7 new games

As many people say notebookcheck is not very reliable. Also I think the 400 is worth it just to have the best of the best. I mean why else would you buy the 5796? The higher clocked ram alone is showing to not significantly enhance game performance over the 5793.

The 5793 will be able to use the 9800gtx also.

It uses the MXMIII interface, which is what the 5796 uses. Also the 9262 uses the same graphics interface as the 5793 so since it has been approved for the 9262 it will work for teh 5793. And the cooling solution is almost identical to the 5793 so thermal issues wont be a problem if it isnt a problem for the 5796. all you have to worry about is the price that it is going to cost. If i recall correctly the 8800m GTX cost about $700
