About to purchase a Sager/Clevo and I have a few graphic card questions-

First question which has two parts: For gaming purposes (and I have seen the benchmarks) does anyone who has used both cards or at least seen both cards and what they can do, notice a huge difference and which is better to use with an external display (46 inch 1080p Samsung LCD TV (HDMI))?

I know we cannot tell the future (would be nice) but has either graphic card company been known to stick with the same input format? I ask for upgradability purposes, cause it would be cheaper to buy a $600 graphic card in 1-2 years rather than spend another 2-3k on a new laptop.

Also I have been reaserching these laptops for a couple weeks now and up until yesterday I was under the impression that you could go from a 6990 to a 580m at a later time if you wanted to. Now I know this is to not be true, due to them using different motherboards...Any better way we can make this information more well known? Or maybe it is and I just missed it.

    Thanks for the help!

For gaming purposes, you won't see a lot of difference between the 6990 and 580m (take a look at some of the benchmarks gathered in this thread). I generally prefer the NVidia since the driver support is a little better, but both have run well. The ATI cards have a tendency to run warmer, but we haven't seen a lot with overheating issues here.

It is hard to tell whether or not the future cards will be supported within these machines. It seems to be hit or miss, but with the better cards like this these cards should be great performers for quite some time.

XOTIC- Thanks for the benchmark link.

DGD- Good info, nice to hear that they shouldnt be changing the input format. Thats crazy how NVIDIA's 650m will perform better than the 580m considering the 485m still performs better than the 570m or at least from what I've read. And trying to figure out what the ATI version means...I'm taking from that info that they're cards will under perform.
