    Hi guys,

Well there seems to be endless threads about how hot the 6990M is getting in certain laptops and which heatsinks are best etc etc.

I received my P150HM last week and also had higher (then I had expected) temps so went on the hunt through these forums for answers which was a total mess.

What I was thinking it would be beneficial to have one thread that lists everyone's reseller, model, heatsink, paste, and temps.

    Mine are as follows:

    System
    Reseller: PC Specialists (UK)
    Model: P150HM
    Heatsink: 203

    Stock Paste
    Idle: 53-55
    Vantage: unknown (didn't run)
    BFBC2: 97

    AS5
    Idle: 48-50
    Vantage: 91
    BFBC2: 94
Titan Quest (I know its old but am getting back into H&S gearing up for D3): 87

    IC Diamond 7
Idle: Thermal Diode: 45, DispIO 45, MemIO 42, Shader 44
Vantage: Thermal Diode: 81, DispIO 82.5, MemIO 83.5, Shader 87
    BFBC2: Thermal Diode: 82, DispIO 81.5, MemIO 82.5, Shader 85
Titan Quest: Thermal Diode: 78, DispIO 77.5, MemIO 78, Shader 80.5

All with fans on auto & no laptop cooler.

I re-pasted with AS5 then ICD7 myself as PCS do not currently offer the ability to do this standard.

    Heatsink: 203

    Stock Paste
    Idle: 50-54C
    Vantage: 81C
SC2: 81C (ultra settings and massive custom map)

    IC Diamond 7
    Idle: 41-44C
    Vantage: 75C

Auto fans. Around 68C on SC2 with FN+1 fan mode.

Edit: Im using a laptop cooler. http://www.chill-innovation.com/products/products.php?kategori=9&products=27 - Was thinking about going for the larger Chilldesk but figured that i can carry this with my in my backpack :) works great.

IC Diamond 7 really seems much better than the other 2 pastes you tried. As BFBC2 is the game I play the most, those high temps gave me chills... I guess I'll buy a laptop cooler for a larger safety margin. Or maybe those plastic feets that clip together to form a ball.
I'll post my temps once I receive my Lotus P151HM1. I won't mess with the paste, however.

A laptop cooler lowered my temps 6c on Vantage.

    With Cooler and IC7:
    Vantage - 81c
    Furmark - 92c after 10 minutes
    Deus Ex - 81c max
Metro 2033- 81c max as well.

My temps seem average, which is fine with me.

    Btw. I have this in a 8130 not 8150.

I have updated my temps with the dispIO, memIO and shader temps. I use HWiNFO64 to watch my temps.

My temps are actually slightly lower today. Either room temp (however it feels pretty much the same as yesterday) or the ICD7 has had a lot more curing time and perhaps shutting down my laptop over night helped make a better connection.

Either way i'm happy with my temps now =)

I just put 2 gatorade bottle caps under the back feet of my laptop which only gives about 1cm more clearance :).
    23.3333(repeating of course)c room temp.
    bottle caps and IC24:
    OCCT: 92c
    3dmark11: 78c
    Sim3: 79c

    overclock 820/950:
    OCCT: 95c
    3dmark11: 81c
    Sim3: 83c

you might want to laugh at me including sims 3 but it seems to be the hottest running game I own even hotter than DE:HR. and 3dm really isn't a good test because it is intermittent with gpu loading.

    Hi,

good idea this thread! But you may add the roomtemps to have a better comparison. For example jonnyman27 from greece has roomtemps about 29C, my last roomtemps were 22,7C, and what temps have the ones from f. e. Alaska? That does make a difference.

    Model: P170HM
    Heatsink: 204

    Stock Paste
    Idle: 45-47C
    3D11 / Vantage:79C
    Roomtemp: 26

    Liquid metal ultra
    Idle: 45
    3D11 / Vantage:74C
    Roomtemp:25,6C

    Liquid metal ultra
    IDLE: 45C
    3D11 / Vantage: 68C
    Furmark after 10min max:83C
    Roomtemp:22,7C
For this test the clevo was 2cm (=0.79inch) above flat.

Being happy about this temps I ordered the two "balls" to put under the nb.

    Model: P150HM
    Heatsink: 204

    IC Diamond 7
    Idle: 45-47C
    Vantage: 82C

I'm pretty happy with that, my room temperature is 75F which is a lot hotter then usual and theirs like 80% humidity. Once the weather goes back to what it's usually like I bet Vantage will be like 79C or lower. Also I was on the computer for like 3 hrs straight before I ran Vantage because I just got it this morning, so that may also cause it to be a tad higher.

EDIT: My vantage score was 14562, which I though was pretty good. also my laptop was not raised up at all, just on flat wood.

    Heatsink: 203

Room Temp: ~29-30 degrees C (I'm from SG)

    IC Diamond 7

    Vantage: 85
    BFBC2: 86-87
    Furmark: 94-96 after 10 minutes burn-in test

All with fans on auto and no laptop cooler. Did not prop up back of laptop except for Furmark using 2 bottled water caps.

Are my temperatures high considering that I stay so near the equator with an ambient room temp of ~29-30 degrees C?

These are the temperatures that i have been seeing here in Athens during the summer while using my p151hm with 6970m (not 6990m). If you ask me, they are normal but not exactly what i want. So, i use icd 7, 2.5cm raise of the back and a small usb fan (extracted from a laptop cooler) which i use to create some air flow under my laptop. Results?

Crysis 2: with fan 81 oC, without fan 85 oC

I'm planning on using the Ceramique 2 to replace the stock paste whenever I get the laptop. $40 was pretty steep for the other, especially when this is brand new and sitting on my desk already.

I got my notebook cooler today, it dropped my temperatures on my GPU by about 4-5C which isn't bad. The max my temperatures hit now are about 80-81C While playing BF:BC 2 (This was my highest temperature game, higher then Vantage and Oblivion). I have not tried Oblivion or Vantage but if it's the same drop I expect them to be around mid to low 70C.

My friend received my laptop 2 days back and now I am logged in remotely to run some benchmarks on it.

First, the Idle temps of the GPU are in the 52-55C range.

Then, I ran Furmark, and here's what hwinfo shows me:

    GPU Thermal Diode: 103C (max)
    GPU DispIO: 103.5 C (max)
    GPU MemIO: 105.5C (max)
    GPU Shader: 109C (max)

The GPU fan max was 124 RPM.

I think these temps are a bit too high. What do you guys think?

Also, I am currently running the 3DMark11 (Benchmark tests only), and the CPU is consistently ~90C-92C. Is this good?

Sorry but both temps are too high, GPU and CPU. Look at page 1 and 2. Contact your dealer and ask how to solve the problem. May be you repaste both. But these temps are too high! What is the room temperature?

Ambient temperature makes a huge difference in mine.

At my room temperature of 30 degrees C, furmark goes to 96 deg. Idle temps at 46-47 deg.

Regular gaming with BF:BC2, L4D2, Crysis 2 are all around the 84-87 degs mark, which is in-line with Sager's tests of mid-high 80s and even 90s in a 30 deg C room.

In an aircon room of 22 deg, furmark gets to 87 deg max. Idle temps at 40-42 deg.

I have IC7D as the paste.

How long did you run furmark for? As a general basis, we run them for 10 mins.

I am not aware of the ambient temperature as i am logged in remotely and my friend is not available. But I do not think it should be anything more than 28-30C.

I ran Furmark for ~15 mins but the GPU reached temps of over 100C in about ~2 mins.

    I also have IC7D paste.

Without Fn+1, the idle temps are into the 50s but with the fans at full blast the idle tends to be at ~46C.

try to put notebook cooler under your buttom :D
    back to topic
If you run the furmark more often, your GPU won´t live very long I suppose. Though, think about repasting with ICD7 or similar. It should bring you 5 C less. But with those roomtemps, i don´t know. Good luck.
EDIT: ok, you did already repaste..

Yes prolonged running of Furmark is not recommended. Other benching like Vantage is best to do for checking the temps. This is what the factory does. :)

I have one more suggestion - ensure that the GPU heat sink screws are tight (but don't overtighten them and follow the 1234 order engraved on the sink). Mine came loose and I was wondering what the heck was going on when BF:BC2 brought my temps up to 96 degrees. After I tightened them I got the temps I posted.
