    Hi everyone,

I am looking to do some revamping of the Sager/Clevo forums but I want your input on what should be done. I already have plans to go through and create directories for reviews and owner lounges and I've removed some older stickies but I'm looking for suggestions to make this forum better for everyone so I thought I would just ask you guys what you would like to see implemented here. Let me know in the comments!

    Thank you,
    Ethrem

sub forum for upgrading non-soldered models
    sub forum for overclocking
maybe sub forum for which model to choose
    maybe sub forum for news/rumors

I'll have to ask about subforums, not sure if that would be possible or not. It would kind of derail the layout versus the other forums on the board.

I do think that we could benefit by at least having subforums for the different model sizes though, it would make things easier for people shopping for a specific screen size.

without subforums, there is only limited ability to revamp anything. all you could do is change some sticky's and rules.
a simple change to consider that might make things a little easier might want to look at soldered/nonsoldered owners sub forums instead of just the one. this would allow things to be a little more directed toward the particulars owners and easier to navigate.

I didn't say that subforums were off limits, I need to get an idea of what everyone wants and then I'll take it to everyone else for discussion but I've worked with forums that have no subforums and managed. It makes it more work but it can be done. I just think information could be organized better around here, we don't even have a current directory for reviews and lounges. Then again, it may not be necessary which is why I'm asking everyone for their thoughts.

I see the value in some subforums but I'm not sure that soldered/unsoldered would be relevant for long. As far as I know, all new models will be going board soldered or desktop CPU as everything I've seen seems to show that Intel is discontinuing the MQ SKUs entirely.

Yeah, the names are not necessarily accurate or needed. non-soldered/Desktop may not need its own section, currently people just ask in the owner's forum specific series threads, but may be useful to be able to split some of that out.

Unfortunately that isn't something that would be in the scope of this part of the forum but rather board wide. I'm not sure if the search engine can be replaced. I like it better than vBulletin though. What's the issue you have with it?

A useful sticky post would be a decoder ring for the current clevo/sager models. When I decided to start looking at a new laptop the first thing I did was to throw together a google doc to correlate the celvo model numbers to the sager model numbers, and break down what each one meant. It helped narrow down my selection field fairly quickly.

Naturally having it up to date would help =).

When listing the systems in the directory, I would type "Sager 9570/Clevo P570WM" for example. Is that what you're talking about?

I meant something more like this in a sticky post at the top of the root forum:

model # sager # chassis size gpu max cpu max display
    P650SA NP8650 650 15 965m i7-4720HQ 1080p, 3k, 4k
    P650SE NP8651 650 15 970m i7-4720HQ 1080p, 3k, 4k
    P650SG NP8652 650 15 980m i7-4720HQ 1080p, 3k, 4k
    P670SA NP8670 670 17 965m i7-4720HQ 1080p
    P670SE NP8671 670 17 970m i7-4720HQ 1080p
    P670SG NP8672 670 17 980m i7-4720HQ 1080p

Ignore any formatting, this is just a partial dump from a google doc I already have. This is example is already a little limited as it only has the soldered in models. I envision people using this decoder ring to narrow down their search (i want a 15, non-soldered gpu, with a 4k screen, etc) to a few models before digging into more details. There is already a post that looks like it was trying to do something similar, but it's out dated and didn't really help get an idea of whats available at a quick glance.

I like that idea, thanks for the example. I think that would be very helpful but to implement it, I will have to wait until HTML is fixed because BBcode tables are extremely limited.

Some of the stickies: Ask the Resellers, Euro resellers, Clevo guide, Sager's official(nothing new in almost three years) could be moved to the reseller feedback forum. "Reseller Info and Feedback"

LGA and BGA just needs to be added to main threads? No need to complicate since Intel is going soldered with mobile. And I'm assuming most laptops with soldered CPU's will cme with soldered gpu's, though not all.
