    Hi, monitor lovers,
I want to help maybe a little and to get small help...
I have HP 8540p elitebook, but wit AUO B156HW01 screen...
Until yesterday I had V4 and now V7...
V7 is BETTER FOR A MILE!!!
Brightness is phenomenal- this first screen not needs 100% brightness.
Colors are a little better- not so red as V4 (many people say that, it is true)...
V4 needs calibrate definitely, V7 just maybe to be perfect...
Maybe also a little sharper picture, V4 is also good in this...
    Angles MUCH better...
    V7 highly recommended!!!
I think I have helped those who wonder which one to order...

I need a little help- I need driver for it because I can not reduce brightness...
It can be also HP qButtons issue, NVidia driver is not problem- I have changed it already
    THANKS

Out of curiosity, did you take any sort of before-and-after photos?

I have said before, I've used both but I prefer the matte.

The glossy is unbelievably bright, vivid, and has higher contrast.

    But yeah, crazy reflections.

@Ryan- so we think exactly the same...
    @XoticPC- unfortunately no pictures...
I have not expected such a difference... This screen is close to
HP zr24w with IPS panel I have on work... V4 far away...
    btw. do have driver???

Hmm I was just looking to upgrade to the V4 from my 1600x900. Is the V7 that much better? Looks about 25% more expensive too.

edit: aha i think I misunderstood am I right in that V4 and V7 are the same screen just one matte and other glossy? I guess V7 it will be then :p

These 2 screens have been discussed quite a bit in the past. It really boils down to personal preference. Both are great imo. :)

I have the v7 and it is phenomenal. A sight to have beholden. A joy to observe. and so forth. plus no reflections. I didn't realize how much they actually distracted me until I had a matte screen.

Yes, no big reflection. I do not see any advantages of V4, just clear diss-advantages...
Where is V7 used- I want to pick driver?

These B156HW01 V7 vs V4 discussions must be old... this is one of the few i have stumbled upon.
    I replaced a B156HW01 V7 with a B156HW01 V4 to get rid of gloss.
The colors on both are great, brightness is great if not in direct sunlight. Neither are bright enough for direct sunlight.
I use both 0% brightness in the dark.
With the V7 i never found it useful to increase the brightness beyond 20% because... bright...and reflections...and glare... it didn't solve anything.
With the V4 i have increased the brightness in sunlit rooms to about 70% and it was comfortable and helpful.
For the first few days I was SOOO happy to have the V4 instead of the V7 because it reflects a lot less light.
Things on the v4 even looked sharper... probably because the screen was new and clean.

...but they are both good screens... it is just preference...and what you convince yourself to live with
if you hear the V4 is greyer and grainier you will want the v7
if you hear you have to turn off all lights and shut all your windows... and still you will probably see your reflection in the LCD you will want the v4

I would class it as acceptable. It's fairly bright and the backlight is even. It's a bit on the slow side but fine for gaming nonetheless. One interesting thing about it is that it supports 1920x1080 at 40 Hz. I guess this can be used to further lower battery consumption.

I have attached my Spyder4 calibrated profile for this screen if anyone's interested.

You go to Color Management in the control panel and add the profile to your screen from there.

thank you so much for sharing the profile! I've got asus n56vz and they have been shipping with 2 display models - samsung and LG, I've been wrongly using the Samsung profile (the only one I managed to find) for my LG display, and now I like the colors much more using the native profile.
