Here are how the Spyder5Pro App set the options in Control Panel / Color Management (ignore the model displayed that's from my previous laptop's screen, the final should be AUO B173QTN01.0-1.icm in our case)

Now, click on the Change system defaults button on the bottom right of the Advanced tab.

Then head over to the Advanced tab again in the new Window that popped out and check the box at the bottom which says: " Use Windows display calibration" and you will see the changes in color immediately when you do that.

I will create v1.1 of this profile tomorrow with better lighting conditions, meaning, a room at night with lights on as we normally would be playing.
This profile was created around 7AM so the lights in the room were on but the sun was rising slightly so it was a bit brighter than normalCaerCadarn and Techhawk54 like this. -
Is there a way to force this for games? Yes desktop+movie playback(?) will look better but most games will just ignore it and use their own profile :/
In matter is fact, is there any game besides Witcher 3 which can use this icc profile right out of the box? -
The one i got from Sager automatically loads the profile on windows startup
-
i finally got gsync working on it and hoped and dreamed for someone to post a icc profile....and now there are no devices/screens in the drop down tab in color management.
-
Hey Bro @Phoenix . I tried the profile and the whites came out a pee stained yellow.
So I went into the Nvidia control panel and switched from "Other applications control color settings" to "Use NVIDIA settings" and they seem fantastic.
Here's the prob.. Is that a placebo now? did that just disable the .ICM profile you provided?
-
I can explain to Phoenix how he can create one using DisplayCAL if he is interested.
Also if you use NVIDIA's color settings, then they over ride the Windows one. -

I'll compare it to the one HIDevolution sent me to see what kind of difference there is.

@Phoenix
Just tried your v2 profile now. It's way better than the first. I like it alot. The color feels alot more natural but whites are still a little tinted yellow. I could be because I'm use to the Nvidia profilewhich is practically fluorescent white. -

The 3k screen has a very cool temp to begin with. I suspect that to help achieve the "IPS like" feel they made it cool so the whites would be similar to IPS.

I totaly agree. Once I figure out my monitor driver issues I'll try your profile for sure.

Nothing shows up in the color management, identify screens window. in device manager it calls it a generic monitor in "other devices".
I try to update the driver to a plug and play driver but it doesn't show any drivers in the list.
I'm still playing around with it ( I have horrible luck) -
The whites on my friends DM3 were close to perfect white, after i calibrated his 3k Panel using the Spyder 4 Express (same hardware as the Pro) and DisplayCAL. Ill ask him to send me the profile.
The reference point matters a lot.
And tbh, the Data Color app is pretty much garbage, unless it is used with proper monitors where you can manually set / change the base RGB and brightness before the actual calibrations starts. That is why for laptops spectrophotmeter's are much better, since they dont quite depend on the backlight type or are able to compensate for it. And with 6500k as the reference.
For any sort of proper calibration, the user needs to manually adjust the RGB and luminance of the monitor, otherwise the "application" just wings it and starts at the wrong base/reference point. (im really not sure how to explain things in a simpler way)TBoneSan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

Next, you need to ensure to tick the box which says Use My Settings for this device
There is no driver to be installed for this screen or any screen that I previously used. It will always show up as Generic PnP monitor in device manager. -

What is DisplayCal? -
DisplayCAL is an application, but you'd have to ask @bloodhawk for more info on it. -

@TBoneSan
is it just me or do you also not find any difference with the X-Rite profile vs the default Windows one? I've never seen any difference with profiles from that site to be honest -

hmmm, this doesn't sound so good about the Spyder products: https://photographylife.com/the-basics-of-monitor-calibration

And yeah the best results are obtained using a specterophotometer.
Most colorimeters need corrections to take into account the type of backlighting and AUO panels always have the weirdest ones.
I have an i1display pro and I used that to create a correction profile for my friends Spyder 4. Which he then used to perfectly calibrate his brothers P870-DM with the 4k panel and now the 3k panel on his DM3.Last edited: Nov 20, 2016Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

The other profiles look very yellow, just because a program says you're "good to go" doesnt mean you necessarily are. Yellow isnt white no matter how you cut it.
Anyway, i appreciate the effort and it led to me getting a good profile. I'll be continuing to look for new uploaded profiles. thanksSpartan@HIDevolution and TBoneSan like this. -

Did you remember to warm up the tool and screen for at least 45m?
Did you use spyder5 with displaycal and use 6500K profile + slowest calibration / profiling? -
