Hey gang. The cost difference with my upgrades is irrelevant.

Xotic's site is a little shinier. Sager direct is... well, there is the "cut out the middle man" angle for and the "Xotic/PN seem to be good customer advocate" angles for. PN took the time to post up more pics of the unit than Xotic.

Anyone want to try to convince me to go a certain way?

    Xotic PC
I have never in life experienced better customer support than I did from the folks there.
    They have very competitive prices.
Plus, if you're looking to get a skin they do a very good job.

going through any of the Sager resellers is recommended since you will get better service and extra benefits for free (like free extended warranties and no taxes)

It's actually cheaper from a reseller than direct through Sager's site.

I went PNB. No problems with them at all. Would definitely do business again with Donald and Co.

The only part of the middle man you'll be cutting out if you buy directly from Sager will be the customer service part. Sager doesn't compete with its resellers on price (at least, not with a view to undercutting them and driving them out of business) and the resellers outdo Sager on customer service - yes, for tough technical issues, your system will end up being serviced by Sager; however, for those calls to technical support for "where's this driver" or "how do I install my OS" you'll be doing yourself a great disservice (pardon the pun) if you "cut out the middle man" on this one.

+1. The middleman in this one saves you money, and gives you great customer service. You'd be a fool (the OP) to go direct from the source. The only thing Sager does is fix MAJOR issues (ie: dead screen / gpu / hardware) whereas the resellers concentrate on 95% of the issues (how do I install xxxxxxxxx, where's the "any" key, etc.) Think of it as a way everyone's happy. Sager gets to focus on selling high-end scream machines and dealing with major issues, and in turn the resellers get to give us great prices and good service on little "everyday" issues.

    Great post shyster1!

I ordered from PNB the other day. Talked with Donald for about 30 mins about various configs. Settled on 9850 and now just anxiously waiting!!!! PNB class act and very helpful. Not that others aren't just my opinion.

I sent an inquiry by email to powernotebooks regarding their laptops and never recieved a reply. I'm sure it just got lost in all the emails they recieve, but because of this I ended up going with Xoticpc, who have replied cordially to every email so far.
