What does everyone do first when they get their m860tu besides benchmarks?

Well, this applies to any system I buy. I inspect it for any physical defects, install Windows, drivers and updates and make sure every aspect of the system is in working order before I waste time installing anything or doing benchmarks.

0- As afitzwater, inspect everything and check that everything is OK
    1- Installed OS :D
2- Install drivers in order!!! + optional drivers
    3- Install Windows updates
4- Install drivers update (e.g.: Intel Matrix Storage)
5- Install your personnal applications + updates
    6- Defrag

That's how I see it. Maybe I forget some stuff...

LOL. I did that the first I got my notebook.

.. that and because I only got the barebones and was waiting for my separately ordered HDDs to come. :)

Can't hurt to try. I find Mass Effect runs better on Dox's optimized drivers than the new official Nvidia drivers. Haven't tested any other games besides that one though.

Yeah... the .Vista secruity system is like:

Do you want to download the file?
Do you want to give permission to download the file?
    Are you sure?
Downloading files from the internet can be dangerous (...) Are you sure you want to download the file?
    Are you sure?

    (file downloaded)

    *Scans file*
Are you sure you want to open the file?
Will you give permission to open the file?
    Are you sure?
You must restart to complete opening the file. Do you want to do it now?

    Are you sure?

This can be done through the control panel. If you're all new to .Vista, you should be able to find some guides on Google on which things to disable (and how to do it).

Good luck with your new notebook! :)
