I have a Clevo based p150hm1 that was built by ibuypower that I bought from the original purchaser. Ibuypower said that the warranty doesn't transfer and I have had a lot of problems with this thing recently - shutting down on its own (fixed with replacing the thermal compound) and then the screen messing up - fading out and messing up (posted previously on here - with video of what is going on).

The screen is doing the BS again. Is there any of the resellers that can be recommended on here that would be willing to take a look at this and give me a quote to fix this POS if I sent it to them?

PM me if you can recommend someone or are a reseller that would be willing to take a look at this system for me.

    Hey

Yea if you are in the US give us a PM, we can take a look at it, sometimes even under warranty, depending on who made it. You'll have to pay for shipping both ways of course, but yea just shoot us a PM.

Does it state that in their warranty stipulations? You should check their site and carefully peruse their warranty page.

I just read their laptop warranty and didn't notice anything expressly stated that the warranty doesn't transfer. I'd ask for documentation stating that if I were you. Typically the warranty is tied to the serial number and you shouldn't have a problem getting it covered. They are a builder rather than a reseller though so they aren't required to abide by any warranty terms than their own.

Below is the email I received from them.

Unfortunately the warranty only applies to the original owner and is non-transferable.

I purchased this laptop from the original owner. Does the warranty for this laptop transfer? If so, how do I go about having the change of ownership?"

I am in New Mexico. I don't mind paying the shipping.

    Thank you!

I really would ask for the documentation in the warranty terms that your person who you bought it from agreed to as I didn't see anything that states that. You'd have a strong case for getting it covered if they weren't able to do so or you could get a hold of the seller and have them provide the warranty info that they received with the computer.

Since they did not substantiate their claim in their email with any documentation, I agree with Derek. You don't want to be a prude with them, but if you have a viable case, then it won't hurt to inquire further.

I contacted the reseller about this laptop once again. It is now out of warranty and they won't honor the repair. I had contacted them about the problems with this laptop on and off again for the last 6 months (I posted a copy/paste from one email). Steer clear of these people. I will not buy another system from them and I am thinking about taking other action against them. (Nothing violent)
