I am right about to buy this laptop everything seems perfect (price, quality, bang for the buck, etc.). So my budget was originally $2,000 so since this machine was so cheap I could easily afford some of the extra features. Here is my final configuration can you tell me if everything looks spik and span?

- 3 Year Labor* 1 Year Parts Warranty
Final Price = $1,840
I know that the Robson won't do much with the 3GB of RAM but it's only 35 bucks might as well. Also I realize 3GB of ram is a bit much but also I had enough money left over anyways, so might as well. So tell me what you think?
-
If you have all this money to spend, you might wanna get something else.
I would at least recommend the compal IFL90 version of this machine. It is a little more expensive for exactly the same thing, but it comes with a way better warranty.
Also, if I had your 2k budget, I would probably be looking at the Asus G series, as they have a better build quality.
As for the 7200rpm HD, I know itll make everything faster, but it will produce more heat, more noise, and more power consumption. its really your call though.
I dont mean to sound pessimistic, but I am just bringing up some alternatives. Regardless of whatever you decide to do, I am sure you will be uber happy because all these come with the 8600gt, which is a pretty powerful card. -
you know what??
my final price (not including the shipping charge)
turned out to be $1810.47 with the same spec at Xoticpc.com
i know 30 bucks isn't that much of a difference when we are talking about 2k
but there's something wrong for sure. -
When you say the Asus G's come with a "way better build quality" what are you basing that on?

I catch your drift but I tend to take really good care of my computers and anything else I own for that matter and if it doesn't break in one year I think I can make it last a couple more without the extra warranty. I know it's safe but I don't think I would enjoy spending the extra cash for 2 more years of warranty. Part of my happiness is coming from the joy of saving $150. I really like things to come up quickly so I went with the 7200 hard drive and I am also getting a cooling pad and will moniter temperatures ussually. This I think also is better than asus G series, they are more expensive just for the looks ( which don't really matter that much to me) I am one of the few who think this machine is sexyBut thanks for the tips

edit: I also configured at xoticpc... -
yeah i have everything same as you
im not ordering this thing
i just did that configuration so we know there's something wrong with this website
i know it because as i mentioned in my thread,
Im seeing two different prices for a same laptop..
you'll see what i mean when you read my post -
Could it be taht one of you is listing the final price, and the other is listing the price after the 30 dollar money rebate thing? At least I think it was about 30 dollars, that rebate.
And as far as I know, a 7200RPM HDD doesn't neccessarily mean louder and faster. Maybe some brands, I don't know but I think it mihgt be the same. Might have been a post/thread done on this at some point. I'll update if I find it. -
Well this is so confusing...
take a look at this
EDITTTT: I dont really care right now Im just gonna go with the cheaper one. I hope you enjoy your new laptop, man. this conversation about stupid 30 bucks is causing me to lose my health which is a lot expensive than 30 bucks lol. Thank you allAttached Files:

OK, WOOOOOO! I just bought it! I really can't wait if I just bought it now how long will it take to get here, assuming they start shipping June 22? Oh man waiting really blows...
-
Im so confused why is the sager 2090 almost $300 cheaper than the compal IFL90 when they are the exact same laptop?
-
The sager doesn't come with a 3 year warranty or next day shipping.
-
Says the guy waiting for a few hours. -

-
I think 3GB is better than 2Gb dual channeled.
-
Do a forum search on dual channel memory. It doesn't seem to increase system performance enough to worry about.

Even if you take the Sager at 1 year and compare it against the 3 year warranty on the PowerPro J 10:15 the difference won't be that much. -
Sry, $172. Thats better.

If so, copy and paste both configurations here so we can see what you are specifically comparing...I still say you cannot be comparing them equally with that much of a difference.
There is a difference no doubt, as there should be considering the differences in the warranties, but just not that much. -
LOL, sweet Donald you have the same number of post as the name of the notebook I'm getting! Now, don't say anything else! (lol just playin)
-
I guess, but 3GB doesn't provide much of a benefit either, for now at least. I dunno, just would have made more sense to me to have 2GB total or 2GB in 1 stick and upgrade to 4 later when it's actually useful.
-
I know what you are saying but, who knows I might never have to upgrade at all...
-
I remember the compal being like 75 dollars more when you configure then two exactly the same.
And 3GB does make a huge benefit. The 8600 GS practically doubled in mark scores wtih 3GB as opposed to 2GB. Even if that is off/inflated somehow, it's still a huge difference. A bigger difference then the dual channel. And vista 64can't even read all 4GB iirc.
Oh, and yes. Do not post and try to keep the 2090 for a while lol. -
Was the GS the 256 Turbo Cached model? I can see how that would have a huge benefit moving from 2 to 3 gig and playing a game that would take advantage of the full 512. However with the 512mb on die, how much performance boost is there when moving from 2 to 3 gig?
-
yeah, it was a turbocached card.
And I don't know.
About to go for Sager 2090!
