So I am about to purchase myself a new laptop for college. I have decided to make it a Malibal. The Lotus P151HM1 to be exact and I have a few questions about it. For the most part I will be using this laptop for note taking, programs like Matlab, and some video games during the 5 hour breaks between classes. (Most likely BF3)

First off for the displays 15.6" 1920 x 1080 FHD LED Backlit Matte Display and 15.6" 1920 x 1080 FHD LED AUO B156HW01 V.4 95% NTSC Matte Display. What exactly does all the abbreviations after LED mean pretty much. Is what it add a good deal for an extra 45 dollars.

For laptops, is filling all 4 SO DIMM Slots looked down upon? Or is that just for upgrading RAM in the future if you only get 2 slots?

Thats all I have for now, thanks.

The stuff after LED is the model # of the screen. I personally think its a good deal for an extra $45 over the standard matte screen. As for the ram, yes its so that you have space to add more in the future.

AUO is the LCD manufacturer. 95% NTSC verses stock is supposed to have better colors/be more vibrant.
Filling all ram DIMM's is not looked down upon. But why fill 4 if you can get 8gb with just 2? Also only 2 of the DIMM slots run at above 1333mhz. I believe they are under the keyboard.

Thanks for the quick replies. I doubt I will be having this long enough to need to upgrade the RAM. Just has to last 2 years.

What about the heat output on it. Will I be needing a cooling fan for it when it chugs away or will it be fine with out it?

You'll be fine without a cooling fan for the 560M.

One last question I swear. How rugged is it. Will I be needing it's own carrying case, or will a messenger bag with a laptop pocket be just fine for it? Books will mostly be the thing hitting against it.

    Best Malibal slogan EVER. :D

It comes with a stock carrying case, but that case doesn't hold much other than the computer. I've been carrying mine in a backback with a laptop pocket and it's held up just fine. Just make sure it's secured and not sliding around.

Maybe he's born with it? Maybe it's Malibal?
