Make sure you're using the 169.04 driver. I couldn't change the clock settings with RivaTuner nor nTune when I was using the Sager driver. The settings would go back to the stock settings as soon as I pressed the "apply" button.

You can double check the driver files directly from RivaTuner (I think the main screen). Scroll through them and make sure you have 169.04 listed for all files.

If you do and it still won't OC then try this:

    1. Boot into safe mode
    2. Uninstall your nVidia driver
    3. Boot into normal mode
    4. Install 169.04 driver

I didn't have to do that when I installed 169.04 -- it worked by running setup.exe without having to uninstall my last driver.

i dunno if someone has mentioned this before, but i just checked the Alienware website, and they are charging $150 more for dual 8700M GT, instead of the dual 7950GTX.

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Hi, Kozi I have disable my Antivirus when I run the 3DMark06 and also the internet so it was using any of my CPU power when running the 3DMark06.

Oh ya FriscoPowers maybe because Alienware wants to charge more that is what they always do. That why you buy it from XOTIC PC for the lowest price for the same unit.

It might be a function of demand. They might be trying to push old 7950's from inventory, or they found that people are willing to pay premium for DX10 hardware.

Damn awesome score for 8700GT SLI. Only if it were 256bit, it would go 1-2k higher.
Word of advice to future overclockers,OC at your own risk, especially new machines. YOU WILL VOID THE WARRANTY.

Crazy overclocks on a laptop GPU with limited air cooling. Though what you get most performance increase in is in Core and Shaders. I wouldn´t advise anyone to clock their shaders to 600MHz over stock, that´s just plain stupid if you are gaming, benching should be ok.

But talk about looking for a disaster with a 600MHz overclock on shaders alone :) I have my shaders on the desktop 8800GTX clocked to 150Mhz over stock, 1500MHz.

But keep it coming, fun to see nevertheless. Put out some gaming benchmarks instead of just 3D Mark benchmarks. It´s nice to see those 3D Mark benchmarks but I think people want to see some in-game benchmarks too and if it´s stable at those clocks.

The D901C has the best cooling in a notebook to date.

I have yet to see another notebook with such efficient cooling.

Currently I am using 169.04 the latest beta driver. If you are using Riva Tuner you should be able to overclock it with no problem. If you are still having problems try to uninstall the driver in safe mode and reinstall it. That solved a lot of problems for me on past machines.

Here's how I updated my drivers, what version of RivaTuner I'm using, etc:

The 169.04 driver rocks -- it was a HUUUUGE improvement and solved all my problems.

I don't know how you were able to OC it at that level. The highest i can go without any signs of instability would be 732/1483/977. If i increase any of it even by 5mhz, when playing oblivion for 1hr or more the screen starts to flicker with lines etc.

I bet you can get much higher with newer drivers.
With 169 series drivers I would only get around 8600 on my 8700M GT SLI (non OCed).
With 175.95 I can get about 9200 without OCing.
