Hey guys,
I was gaming when I accidentally tipped a glass of water onto my Sager. The computer kept running fine while I was tilting the laptop upside down and soaking up the water with a paper towel. I closed out and hit shut down, but for some reason it was taking longer than usual to shut down so I held down the on/off key.
I turned the laptop back on and the 3 lights on the top left were blinking in sync and my fan was on an unusually high speed. I hit restart and my laptop completely shut off and didn't come back on. I turned it back on again and the fan wasn't going as quickly, but I started to get a beeping noise. I'm using an old laptop to write this.
Can anyone tell me what I should do or assess the damage/tell me what the beeping noise and blinking lights means? Also, does anyone know about Xoticpc/Sager warranty? Does it cover water damage?
I would greatly appreciate it!
P.S. I did the same thing to the laptop that I'm using now (HP) a year ago and let it sit over night and it worked perfectly fine after letting it sit over night. I'm going to just do that for now.

The warranty is highly unlikely to cover accidental damage unless it specifically says that.
As with any electronics, if you spill water on it, it should shut off and any power source removed immediately, then left to dry. If there was any water still in there and the battery was still in place, you may have fried something. RMA time time probably, but it will cost you. -

The beeping noise could a a code.
Are the beeps long and short or all the same length?
How many beeps? -
as Tmets said, as soon as it happened you should of powered off and removed battery immediately. remove base plate and let it dry out for at least 8 hours.
ive heard putting it in a large bowl of rice has helped others as it drains the water out quicker (not fried rice)
how long did you leave it off before you powered it up again as it sounds like you have defo fried motherboard or something like that.
depending on what warranty you took out some companys offer extra protection but this would have cost extra when buying and if you dont have that then it most prob wont be covered by warrantyonly way to find out is to rma back to sager.

If I were you, I'd still remove the battery and let it sit in a dry environment for a couple days. I've seen plenty of laptops come back to life after doing so.
Also, if you do the rice trick, don't put your laptop directly into a large thing of rice, I had two customers in the same day bring their laptop in with rice everywhere so I had to take them apart to clean them... -
I would put it in a mesh bag in a bag of rice too. However if some time has passed, then perhaps open it up, look for areas of damage and clean it with high percentage rubbing alcohol.

Next time: Do not tilt your laptop when you spill water on it. The water was probably just below the keyboard, and when you tilted it, you allowed the water to enter the motherboard where it probably fused it.

I thought water only shorts electronic components. Can it really cause physical damage?

NEVER run a computer recently exposed to water without having it TOTALLY dried out.
