Recently I posted a thread asking if anyone knows where to get clear housing for any laptops. And of course no one knows, because they don't even exist. Anywhere!

So...I decided to look into the process of making this possible. After 2 weeks of research (talking with Sager and *** Plastic Molding) I can now say that we will be offering them in the near future.

In two weeks I will be sending the Sager 9750 and Sager 5760 housing to *** to begin the mold process. Following this, the acrylic molds will be made and shipped back to us.

We will then test the durability and heat factor. If it's a success, which there is no doubt, then they will be available by mid November.

I hope this interests you guys as it does me!

After it's obvious the clear will sell (which I am sure), I will start doing clear blue, red, etc.

So FC, how are you going to get FCC approval and whose warranty are you going to rely on?

The truth is folks, the FCC approval cannot be obtained for this project and neither Sager, Pro-Star nor Clevo will provide any warranty for it.

Therefore you will be buying totally at your own risk and without warranty from any major company.

Forgive my ignorance: are we talking about a new sort of laptop case/chassis here, or...?

My question might be stupid but why does the FCC have to approve this?

Yes, that is correct. FC wants to replace the standard case with one of clear plastic and sell it as a specialty item.

    Buyer Beware on that one.

You cannot sell electronics equipment like a laptop computer without FCC approval.

Look on the bottom of every laptop, regardless of its brand, and you will see the FCC approval label. Usually it is Black background with white or silver printing.

FCC DOES NOT have to approve this. However, process will be worked on at a later time, if everything else goes well.

As for the warranty, our standard warranty applies to all systems we sell. Why would there be a Sager Warranty on ANY system WE build. It is NOT a Sager if WE build it. It only uses Sager housing.

Paladin44: If you know of a manufacture whose own warranty applies to systems we build (or anybody else), please let me know. This would be great! (sarcasm)

Paladin44: Let me also explain how OUR warrany works. If something goes wrong, we don't let our customers deal with slow shipping and a 14 day turn-around.

We let them take it to an authorized computer repair shop in their area. AND WE PAY THE BILL.

Therefore, they have their computer back and running properly in 1-2 days at the most.

Ohhhhhhhh...Now I've realized why it's always you arguing with what I say. You're a competitor. Real mature to watch my posts and argure with everyone of them. Business must be great for you.

And I've taken a look at your site. Why do you let problems be handled by the manufactures warranties? You should know people hate dealing with the manufactures. You don't see Dell, Sony, HP, Alienware, Velocity Micro, Toshiba, etc sending their customers to someone else to deal with their problems. You need to be confident enough of the quality of product you sell to offer your own support. Just my opinion

If you are stating that you are buying Sager NP9750 and NP5760 housings from Sager (of course if you were to tell the truth you would say that you are brand new with Sager and have never bought a laptop or a housing from Sager) then you should expect others to think that is what you are talking about.

If what you are really intending to do is buy some Clevo shells from Sager and then build them yourself without either the Sager or Clevo warranty backing you up, you should say so instead of using the Sager name trying to confuse people.

If you are only intending to buy housings then they are not Sagers, they are Clevo housings.

Anyone buying a laptop computer without the FCC approval and label on the bottom is doing so at their own risk. Anyone selling such is breaking FCC regulations.

This has gone too far for my liking, so consider it closed. Started out fine, but fell apart at the end with the personal comments toward paladin44. Please keep all personal-related stuff with somebody off the forums.
