Hi guys, I recently done the hardware mod for the Clevo P870DM-G following this guide: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/...upgrade.814711/

Added GTX 1070 G Sync, installed fine with driver mod.

My problem is that in bios the card it is not recognized, on the GPU says unknown. The second GPU FAN of the laptop not working because it does not recognize the card. I would like the second GPU fan working as well (just like in the case of 980DT GPU)

Need help in adding this card support in the bios that the second fan will work. Or mod the bios for card support.

    Running stock 1.05.07 gsync bios.

It's not so much that the card is not recognised in the BIOS, that's just a lookup table to give a display in the BIOS, it does nothing more.

The modified BIOS will need to treat the card like the 980 DT.

Yet, that is pretty much the plan. Hope that someone can make it possible.

I had this problem with my original P870DM-G when I upgraded to Dsanke BIOS as my 980DT GPU became "unknown" and the second GPU fan didn't work defaulting to a single slot GPU detection status.

I ended up using HWinfo fan controls to enable the second fan and that worked fine but still didn't address the core issue of native fan support.

I found something interesting while reading fan speeds with HWinfo.
When Fn+1 is on, hwinfo can read the speed of all 3 fans, and also it shows me that GPU fan 2 is engaged at a temp reading of 1.
How can one make that the GPU fan 2 will be engaged at the GPU 1 Fan temp (GPU temperature). How can one make GPU 2 FAN to be ganged with GPU FAN 1.

Btw @Khenglish, what will happen if i connect the second gpu fan to the first gpu fan header with a y splitter (for them both to work in parallel)? Will I fry the IC driver because going over 0.5A?

It's probably fine, but I recommend looking up the fan IC chip number and checking its rated current drive capability. You don't want to be like EVGA on the RTX 3090.

    Thank you.
Looked at the datasheet, and the chip max out current is 1A (or 5w). So in theory it could power two 0.5A fans in parallel?

Just be careful to check there is not a difference between max and max sustained.

Already connected them and .....it works. Even sustained with fn+1 command no issues whatsoever. I am thinking to somehow passive cool the fan driver IC (just to be sure).
Thinking of doing the same thing on the CPU, with a P870TM heatsink mod and like that main + second fan working together by temp (already found a smaller 5v 0.4A fan that will work perfectly).
Will make a tutorial for the CPU heatsink...when I will buy the heatsink and a 9600k/ 9700k. I think that these are the best options. I9 9900k might still throttle even with TM heatsink and 2 5v fans.

Already ordered TM heatsink from aliexpress, and when that comes I„l buy the CPU locally.

Do you think the Gtx 1070 will be recognized in bios if I add NVdGPUPei module to the DM bios with MMtool?

What do you mean recognised in the BIOS? Where you see unknown GPU? That bit really does not matter.

The thing is that if bios recognizes the card it will allocate a stock HW ID and inf mod will not be needed anymore.

What i did in the end is that I replaced NVdGPUDxe from original moded dsanke bios with the module from dsanke bios with RTX support. I will flash it as soon as I will do the TM CPU heatsink mod on the original DM, and also, when I disassemble for that I will also have a project going on to somehow make the bios chip more accessible without the need to disassemble the whole laptop to flash it (will make a separate thread 4 that).

That's technically a separate thing and having a recognised combined ID from the GPU/motherboard to find a lookup in the driver.

I don't know the full details myself, but you are right that BIOS work can be used to generate a valid ID for the drivers.

Also the fans on the CPU and GPU side are conected with Y splitter so they can work by temp.
This is the only small bonus that you have with the original DM you can connect both CPU fans to work by temp so that the second fan does not spin for nothing.
    Like I promised finished mod:

Is that an internal USB header you have soldered above the slave slot? That does look like some hard work getting that heatsink all sorted, nice work.

So as an update, I replaced NVdGPUDxe from original moded dsanke bios with the module from dsanke bios with RTX support, flashed it but... :oops:no chance. As a result, bios does not recognize any video card, hence the whole section disappeared from it and got blue screen when booting to windoze.

Will still try, but I do not know what to do next.

UPDATE: I have finally caved in and flashed dsanke port from TM and everything works as expected (except the sound bug which works correctly only on microsoft driver).
Now I want to update with 1080 and 9600kf and a Innolux N173HHE-G32 to have Gsync working also.
Does someone have a cheap Innolux N173HHE-G32 in Europe to spare ?

Yes of course. Found one with 86.04.80.00.24 vbios, and 10DE 1BE0 HW ID and from what i know that is Gsync.
