Hi guys, had a clevo m570tu for some time now and been really happy with it, however have queried the memory in the computer on occasion as it never shows on standard software like sis sandra as being correct. I am believed to be running PC3-8500 8-8-8-27 from OCZ and I had 2GB when I purchased it. I have now purchased another 2GB sodimm PC3-8500 8-8-8-27 and my pc is now running SLOWER. I thought my WEI would go up too however it has remained at 5.0. Anyone have any ideas at all?

Latencies that high can cause issues when dealing with large stacks in the memory. Consider selling your RAM and getting some decent memory such as:

I thought that ocz were meant to make very good memory??? I asked gf to get my other 2gb stick for xmas, wish i hadnt now!!!

I know that Kobalt Computers had real problems getting OCZ memory to function properly in the M570TU and M860TU, especially running 4GB. It caused some of their systems to randomly freeze and not start up properly etc. They then shipped their notebooks with crucial (i think?) which seemed to sort out the problem. Maybe you could try a different brand?

could be a good idea.

If you drop Andrew a PM on our forum or send us an e-mail we'll swap out the original OCZ memory for you. We now use Crucial in the M570 & M860 so look for part number CT25664BC1067 if you are going to get an additional 2GB. -
cheers Neil i messaged Andrew now, just strange how i'm also getting like 500+mhz from cpu-z instead of the 1066mhz or is this right?

CPU-Z will show 533MHz because the RAM is DDR (Double Data Rate) so 2 x 533 is 1066MHz

thank you neil, if I was to change all my memory I currently have for something with alot lower CAS which would be the best to go for with the ClevoM570tu? I looked at the Crucial Kobalt now supply and its still CAS7. I have seen the new HyperX released but im not sure.

The CAS 5 HyperX is hands down the most powerful 1066MHz memory on the market right now. Will outperform any 1333MHz memory in these systems.

even though its pc2-8500 isnt it the hyperx?? anyone selling the version in the UK that I would need
-
Its PC3-8500. All the advantages of DDR3, with the latencies of DDR2.
Added Memory and M570tu now slower
