    Hi,

I have a Sager np9150 and I added G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB F3-1600C9D-8GRSL and a link to this ram can be seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231703

I turned the computer back on and the screen showed weird colors and then I restarted. Then I got the BSOD with error: ATTEMPTED EXECUTE OF NOEXEUTE MEMORY. Now after one more restart, there has been no more issues other than it does not see the added ram. I was pretty sure that this laptop should be able to handle this ram. Could this be DOA or the laptop really does not support it? Thanks.

    Hi guys,

I am dumb. I took of the ram and reinserted them. I realized I did not insert the ram all the way in the slots (first time inserting ram in a laptop and did not want to break anything). The ram is detected and everything is fine.

    several things u can try:

    - take out old ram, insert new
    - leave old ram installed, insert new ram into all available modules
    - move around both old and new ram in all available sockets

if u can get ur new ram to be recognized by the system in any of the above combinations, go ahead and run a tool like memtest to check for memory errors.

if none of the above work and u can only see ur old ram, then it looks like u got a doa stick of ram ;)

Don't be hard on yourself. Things like that happen to everyone, I know I've done it before. And if it was your first time, I bet it is something you check the next time. ;)

Everyone does dumb stuff from time to time, imagine working on an acer machine that requires a total teardown to get to the heatsink and forgetting to plug the fan back in before putting it all back together *doh*

What's that saying from the Batman Begins movie?

"Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up." (Kind of melodramatic in this case, but hopefully you get the idea.)

It's good that you don't have any faulty hardware, after all.

One of my friends did something similar when he had to do a complete teardown of a machine, got it rebuilt, and had to tear it down again. Not fun at all!
