I have 8gb of memory in my current Sager NP8130 config and want to expand to 16gb. I currently have Samsung memory (2x4gb) - see attached. I was reviewing options at Newegg and was thinking of going with 2x4gb GSkill to add to the current Samsung. Would one of these be a better option to match to the existing Samsung?

    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ
    or
    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBSQ

Is there another brand that would be a a better option? Thanks in advance.

i've had good results with g. skill in all my computers and others i've put g. skill in. small possilbility that mixed ram won't play nice, but newegg has good return policy. also, try and wait for lower price. i got mine for $73. i think it's been lower but for now $73 would be the magic number for a better price, rather than $83.

Great idea. I checked the For Sale forum but nothing available yet. It might be best to wait it out and see if somebody is willing to sell. Thanks!

Ya. I dun remember that much programs able to utilize 8GB fully.

16GB seems to be overkill if you use do not actually get to use them.

You should never mix different brand RAM in a laptop or desktop. Laptop RAM is much pickier as you will see from lots of posts on nbr. IF you wanna go for 16GB Gskill then go for it - may work may not but please don't mix 8GB Samsung with 8GB Gskill!

Okay do you want faster speed ram or more memory to open and run more apps.

16GB won't make you run faster just allows you to open alot of apps or VM ware. If you doing alot of VM and photo stuff then 16gb is good. But if your just into gamming 8GB running at 1600mhz would be better. I dont know if you can run 16GB at 1600mhz I just read it can only handle 2 slots.

might want to check out 1600mhz ram. I'm using Patriot PSD38G1600SK window runs alittle much faster. Cost me 96 dollars shipped and I sold my old one for 60 dollars shipped...

Thanks, not looking to get any faster memory. I just want to have more for future photo & video editing.
