So I downloaded NTools and I want to overclock my 8800GTX, what are the safe frequencies I can go up to for the Core, Memory, and Shader clocks?

I clocking my video card because I'm assuming clocking the GPU will have more of an effect on my gaming over CPU clocking, am I correct?

    Thanks in advance.

cpu over clocking is by far better than gpu over clocking.

and a nice safe clock to run is 600/900/1500 or 1600

hmm well, GPU overclocking will have more effect then CPU overclocking in games (obviously since games bottleneck on the GPU rather then the CPU nowadays), however it may be safer to overclock the CPU, because it can take more in terms of heat then the GPU.

    ummmm, don't think so.
our lastest attempt at this was with gta4 and over clocking the gpu gained nothing while over clocking the cpu gained a few frames.
samething with crysis. gained like 3 frames or so over clocking gpu.

had that been a cpu over clock..it would be 16.2k and not 15.8k

i would have agreed with you had i not been testing all that out on an every day basis....

OCing with SetFSB has always yielded FAR more frames than a GPU OC alone.

oh really? thats interesting hmmm. would you say that if you had a exteme cpu, you get more out of it by OCing with SetFSB then just by changing the multiplier to x16?

    trick question....

if the system uses the multipliers...then you wouldn't need to over clock the whole system, just the multiplier, but since most systems only go so high on multipliers...they use the fsb to gain the extra over clocking ability or fine tunning of a stable over clock. extreme cpus go up to like 31x. so if the system was truly unlocked...then you wouldn't even need to use setfsb

also...by looking at your 3dmark/vantage scores while using a x9100...you scores should be higher. in the 10k range. depending on how your over clocking. and that 174.82 driver has to go if you want your scores to go up. along with your gaming experience..(just some info and not a what you should do)
