I still seem to have gotten a lemon.

Machine came in from LPC, drivers and everything were installed. The 7970 wouldn't show up for any of the tests, only the igpu. When I tried running Kombustor it only had the igpu available. In the device manager it's showing that it has drivers (March drivers) (both the igpu and the 7970m)

I used Hula's method of getting the new drivers, but they didn't install the new ones it would seem. The drivers installed exactly the same as the ones that were on there. So that was weird.

Now my machine won't restart. I've already had to force shutdown 3 times. I'm updating everything right now and will attempt to run a game to see if the card will kick on, but at this point I'm very frustrated. I was not expecting to have this kind of f*ck around right out of the box.

Also when I try to use the Catalyst program from the AMD website to auto-detect to install the drivers, it tells me that it's not compatible and shuts down.

...well if anyone has any advice to offer I'd be stoked to hear it, but I'm thinking if it's not running sweetly by midnight I'm sending it back.

Clevo won't have their warranty ruined if the bottom gets opened.

If I were you I would check if something were loose... but I guess it's too late, I hope you get it resolved ASAP :) gl

When you use programs like Kombuster, you have to set CCC to use the program as "High Performance" and then the 7970 will be used and detected.

Yep, called Larry just 5 minutes ago. He's going to contact a tech. I'm about to have to reinstall windows, the thing is hanging on startup now.

I just got into safe mode and stripped the drivers out one last time, I'm re-installing the drivers from the disc I got with the machine right now.

Ok so the drivers installed good, everything seems set to work. Ran Kombustor to see if the 7970m would kick in and yea no. Got some nice low scores, trying 3dMark11 to see if that will kick it up a notch.

Can you tell us what changes you did to make your card finally come up? We here in the forums do like to know as each situation can be unique as far as root cause of the issues. :)

Sure thing. Just ran Kombuster again and it scored a lot better.

Played Batman: AC for about 20 mins graphics maxed out and got around 40fps solid and temp at around 75 so that was mint too.

As for what I did to get it back to normal (ish) I just went into Safe Mode, uninstalled the drivers and then rebooted normally. Then reinstalled the drivers from the Clevo disk I got with the laptop and restarted it. It ran winSAT before logging all the way onto my desktop. Then I tried the test software and it all worked nicely. BF3 is downloading right now, I'll post after I trial it.

Sounds like it's working nicely for you so far, too. It's funny because I had to install drivers three times before it decided to play nice and work for me.

I know! This was my second crack at it. But now that they seem to be playing nice, man...she's quite the beast! Can't wait to test it out on other games. It's definitely a weapon of a card for that price point.
