After getting somewhat screwed by PCSpecialist, does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm UK based and off to California on the 2nd.
Have been trying to order a P650SG from Clevo since the 18th November, they told me to wait until the 24th of November as the displays were all out of stock, and that if I waited I could fast track the build and have it on time. I asked if I could order it then to be sure none of the other parts went out of stock, they said no, and that I would have to wait. Waited until the 24th, they told me they still don't have the displays and to wait until the 26th. Waited until the 26th, they told me that they had sold ALL the graphics cards and have no ETA on when they are getting new ones, and have no way to get me a laptop before the 2nd as promised. *sigh*

So here I sit, laptopless and betrayed. I am looking for...

    A) Somewhere in the UK that will ship me the laptop before the 2nd (unlikely)
    B) Somewhere in USA that will ship me the laptop sometime around the 4th, but can be as late as the 16th.

    Things I want...
3/4k display, UK Keyboard layout, decent GPU. 17" would be nice but I doubt I'm gonna get 3/4k at 17", so 15" is acceptable.

    Any suggestions? :)

I'm in the same boat, except I made the mistake of making an order after they led me to believe that placing my order before they have stock in would give me a higher priority when they receive it.

I placed my order on November 20th, expecting the stock to come in on November 25th. Yesterday I asked on the progress and they've now told me that I might get it built on December 9th when they receive stock, but they couldn't guarantee that or anything.

It seems like they just lied on their website about receiving stock on November 25th since the sales people told me they were due receive it on Friday, and then told me it was due late on Monday when I asked them whether it had come in.

I'm now to just trying find somewhere else that actually has the P650SG in stock and can actually deliver it.

At least it's not just me, I guess they are just trying to string everyone along hoping to get the sale whenever the parts actually arrive. Sucks for me because now I could have used that week while finding an alternative machine. Please do let me know if you find anything, either US or UK.

I just called them. Sadly they can't get the P505 to me before the 7th (Dam). May be an option for troist though. They also don't appear to have the i7-4870HQ as an option, which I believe is a good upgrade due to its lower power consumption?

Even more grumpy now, if pcspecialist hadn't messed me about I could have bought it from mysn and had it on time.

Yea, 4870HQ isn't a /need/ thing since you can upgrade it later after purchase anyway.

I think the lack of i7-4870HQ is a problem from Clevo's side and not the resellers, I'd prefer one but they seem to be an option in the future.

MySN look quite good but for a very similar spec it costs £300 more from them so I've asked if they offer any type of price matching. I might switch my order anyway though because I'm not sure about PCSpecialist anymore.

When they said they'd get it to you by the 7th, was that delivered by then? Or they'd start building then? I'm not too keen on going for somewhere that hasn't got stock in.

They said delivered by 7th, however that was depending on stock availability which we didn't check.

normally its not that much of a price difference for the same models.

mentioning no names or country but weve seen prices drop a lot lower than that in the past just to get customers and then all the other suppliers could get stock out sooner than said supplier. when they finally got stock in the prices went back up the same as all the other suppliers.

another thing is you get a full 2 years warranty with mysn compared to pcs misleading 3 years which is actually only a year after you upgrade.

depending how long you are in the states for you could order from one of the sellers out there which work out a lot lot cheaper but then warranty would be a problem as you would have to pay for courier if it ever had to go back. and of course you would pay out lovely 20% vat import duty when you came home wouldnt you ;)

check out xoticpc, prostar, power notebooks, mythlogic, lpc digital.

Warranty isn't too much of an issue, I have lots of US based friends, so I can just ship it to a friend via the cheapest method possible, and then have them send it back for warranty. But hopefully it won't break!

As for the import duty, that's not a huge issue. :)

XotiPC/Prostar/LPC Digital don't have 4k displays in until the 12th apparently, and that's before they will even start building it I imagine
Power notebooks/mythlogic don't seem to have the P650 nor any >1080p displays

    :(

Don't forget I'm in USA in December too, if we can find a USA based reseller that can deliver before the 16th, that's ok, if we can find one that can deliver on or before the 4th...they'll be getting my money :p

Try Scan UK 3xs systems. I brought 2 systems from them and after sales service is good. Their laptops comes with 2yr warranty. BTW their P650/670 models not available till first half of December and they clearly said that in their product page..

Love scan, but as I say I'll be in California by then and was really hoping to get something before I leave. If I end up having to wait till after I get back, I love scan and will probably order from them :)

Edit: or after I leave (on the 2nd) but then it must be delivered to USA :p

With the ETA of Dec 12th on the 4K screens and your need by date of the 16th its not looking good for a Sager computer. Keep in mind the 13th and 14th are weekend days and Sager is not open on the weekend so they will not count as production days. If the screens did come in stock as expected on the 12th that leaves just 2 business days to build, test, ship, and get delivered. With the screens not physically available yet and just the 2 business days I doesn't look like a Sager is going to get there in time. We can hope the screens do arrive sooner though, if they do then that helps a lot.

Yea, most places seem to say the 12th for the displays. It's odd though because PCSpecialist claims to already have the 4k screens in stock. But then who knows with PCSpecialist "In stock" could mean anything ;)

But yea, sadly it looks like I'm gonna have to wait until after I get back from USA and just use my W110ER while I'm abroad. Oh well :(

Shame I can't buy from Xoticpc, you guys seem really good on this forum, I've always looked at your website longingly from across the pond.

Stop acting like spoiled childrens, the P650SG has been delayed by...CLEVO.

you can order wherever you want you won't get it sooner.

I remind you that the P650SE from PCspecialist was supposed to arrive november 11th in stock, but they got them november 2nd. So they will get them probably sooner, when i live chatted with a sales rep BEFORE november 25th they told me worst case they'll have the barebones december 9th...

If you took a 3k/4K screens they will have the laptops in the second part of december (before holidays)

Go order from mysn if you want, if you get it sooner i will eat my hat :D

Thanks, we try to help out as much as possible. I would be great if we could help you get one, but unless things change soon it does look like it will be after you get back from your trip. The W110ER is a good computer still, really nice for travel.

The grumpyness was at the misinformation from PCSpecialist, I think we already came to the conclusion I can't get it sooner no matter where I order from :)

I think you may have got confused, I already have a W110ER (had it for a while now)

Yea, its tinyness has both advantages (fits in my coat pocket, who needs a carry on!) and disadvantages (I'm apparently going to do a weeks work on it)
