I have not had much success, I have unlocked the sliders and changed the typical registries.. but it will not save or apply the profiles.
has anyone had success with the new afterburner?

I've looked around and I still haven't seen anyone pull that off. I believe it's still 2.2.1 or earlier. A new version, 2.2.4, is out though. I wonder if it will work on that.

I have, 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 work fine. You need to place two files into the directory of Afterburner. I'll upload them.

you need to "wake" your 7970m before launching afterburner by starting a 3d application (I used Kombustor as its very quick to launch). Without 7970m being woken afterburner cannot detect its clocks, therefore it cannot change them.

And that's it? Do I need to follow that overclocking guys, make changes to the registry, etc.?

And leave Kombustor open or just open it and then close it? From what I've experienced, Afterburner always detected the clocks. I just can't move the slider past the stock clocks. I've tried using the guide to allow the slider to move past (OC), but it wouldn't work for versions later than what was recommended.

Thanks guys, Ill try those files when I get home, I am trying to get benchmarks for you guys. So far with basic 3Dmark 11 @720p on performance I am getting 5866 stock and 70c max, cools very quickly after load drops. I have to figure why Vantage wont give me my score...

ok so I have narrowed my problem to enabling oc in the CFG file... as soon as I do it locks down to 0's

having the exact same problem here. all works fine. without enabling oc it shows the active 7970m @ 850/1200... as soon as oc is activated in the cfg file it's stuck at 0/0...

been all over this... checked file formats, tried different drivers, different versions of kombustor & afterburner, put load on the dGPU, changed cfg settings, included ati.dlls ... still don't get why its not working.
    everyone using modded drivers?

first i used all the modded drivers slickdude suggested, now i've actually given up on the modded drivers and went with the 12.8 release. installed the clevo package first and then went with the release drivers. worked good so far except the overclocking

I could not figure out the stuck sliders.. but I did find the 2.2.0 and it works.... mostly. There is tearing/flickering at ANY oc of either core/vram.. only when moving windows opening closing programs, kombuster 2.4.0 ran stable and under 80c until 980/1500, then the driver crashed and i had to restart my computer... its back at stock and I have been playing boarderlands 2 and max settings, pinned to 60fps at 70%

u can solve the tearing issue in windows by setting the unofficialoverclockingmode in the kombustor to 2 instead of 1. got this hint from another nbr member and he said that that would disable powerplay (gpu wont downclock anymore at idle so ull have to change back to 1 manually and restart the computer)

So the gpu would be running at 950/1450 constantly?

I have been running with no problems. I only need to oc Metro 2033 on very high detail.
The temps are very very stable, metro runs at 99% and 67c.
The graphics are stunning, but I do see an issue with object movement/ environment blur. Example, the first mission, rolling through the tunnel, facing the wall (so screen pans to the side) it gets choppy, like its running 5 fps, even though its running at 32fps. Also, when taking shots in the bar, as you watch the cup get lifted to your face, only the cup is jerky... tried different settings. should I use CCC to over ride the settings? Also, PhysiX is selected in the game...I just noticed, I'll try that too.

Also, the forced oc. if you have a profile set at stock clocks is returns the card to standard setup, thought that might be useful.
