Hi Guys,
I have a 7970M/HD4000 enduro setup. When playing games even just for monitoring purposes I have to first start the game, wait for it to load up and then alt/tab back to windows to open Afterburner. If I don't follow this procedure then Afterburner doesn't display the 7970 info, just the HD4000.
As far as overclocking is concerned the same thing applies. If I try running afterburner before the game is started then it gives me the sliders and graphs for the HD4000 not the 7970m.
Is there some option I have missed which allows you to just open afterburner (say when the computer is started) and then it will automatically switch between the appropriate gpus as they are activated?
Regards,
Brandon.

That's actually because of Enduro. When you start those applications up without needing to have that GPU be active, the Intel HD4000 integrated will be running and not the 7970. When you start the game, the 7970 kicks in and why it's detected when you start those applications afterwards.

Hi Derek, I understand that the 7970 only becomes "active" once the game launches but the alt/tabbing can lead to crashes etc which tend to be a bit frustrating. Was just wondering if there is some way of circumventing this. Seems to be a bit of an oversight with the whole Enduro/ Afterburner setup.

You could use Kombuster to get that 7970 going instead. Not really an oversight, it's doing what it's intended to do. The dGPU will only activate when the the graphics power is needed and it's not needed to run those applications.

personally, i prefer the lil render test thats built in gpu-z
its very small, but puts enough load onto the system to activate ur 7970m

All you have to do is add Afterburner to the list in Switchable Graphics Application Settings, then select it to run as High Performance. The moment you start Afterburner the 7970M is activated and you can make your adjustments. I have GPU-Z set to do the same thing so I can select the AMD card from the drop down menu.

Try balane's suggestion. -
Tried adding it to the Control center but no luck. The crashing only seems to happen when I have stuff running in the background so I just avoid having background processes now when gaming. Thanks for the replies.

It's worth finding out which processes are causing the conflict. You can eliminate them one by one through msconfig (Services tab), although it may be tedious to do so.
