After monitoring my CPU temps it seems I might have an issue with my heatsink fit. I don't have the tools or the time to fix this on my own, and need a fast turnaround since my laptop is essential to my work, and setting up a new development environment on a new PC will be a royal pain in the ass. Last time I sent my PC in for a warranty repair (which later turned into a replacement), it took over six months for me to get any response from my builder, so I can't go that route. Are there any Clevo resellers or service centers who would take my laptop, run a diagnostic and get it turned around in a reasonable timeframe? My laptop is a P650hs, a model which seems to have unusually high frequency of CPU cooling issues.

Where are you based? Have you reached out to a local reseller?

I'm in NYC. I know of Microcenter in Brooklyn but haven't been able to find any Clevo resellers nearby.

I can't think of any local, it's an expensive area to operate in for such a company.

Since you do not have the tools and time to fix it yourself, using a place like Microcenter is not necessarily a bad option. Whether they have a technician with the skill to identify that more than maybe thinner pads and better paste will do the trick in another matter. The ability to effectively troubleshoot problems like poorly fitting heat sinks is not particularly difficult, but it seems to be a dying art in some ways. If someone that works there is very talented, they will knock it out of the park. If they have typical PC technicians working there, it might not be any better when they give it back to you. You need to find a place that handles Clevos that cares a lot about how things work, such as HIDevolution. They are too far away to get the kind of fast turnaround you need for a laptop essential to your daily work.
Maybe a talented member of this forum that is reasonably close to where you live could help fix it and you could pay them to do it right the first time or confirm the heat sink is fitting too poorly to work right. @Mobius 1 comes to mind. He has the talent. Cannot say if he has the time or desire, but it certainly never hurts to ask. -

Massive thank-you to @Mr. Fox and @Mobius 1 for helping me with this; my CPU is now operating at manageable temperatures under load. I genuinely thought I'd have to shoulder the financial burden of finding a new workhorse machine, or suffer the creaking processor of a cheap Chromebook for a couple of years. The community comes through, once again!
