Hey,
Has anyone purchased a Sager Machine without an Operating System (windows) and successfully partitioned a Linux based operating system on their machine?
This isn't a gaming machine, on a budget and looking at the NP7680 for summer work.
Thanks

I have currently installed in dual boot ubuntu, kubuntu 9.04 and winXp. The essential worked out of the box(wired and wireless Internet, internal and usb keyboard, ntfs support), I installed manually the video and temp driver easily. The touchpad, webcam and fingerprint sensor does not work but I did not even try to install them because I never use them but I'm almost certain it's possible, if you have a day to waste forum are full of tutorial. And I haven't tried bluetooth and sleep/hibernate so I can't tell. Overall it's perfectly usable.

Well it is preferable to have a second operating system in case linux fail to boot (it happen sometime when you update the core) so you can go on your second system to find a solution or in very rare case to backup your file if you can't fix linux. But it's not indispensable I think, a liveCD would do the job.

Those are the two I use, they are full of tutorial and people willing to help if you ask nicely
