    I may be losing my mind but I feel like my fans are spinning up higher/more constantly than they used to... To fellow 8660 owners - when you hit the silent mode button, do your fans turn of completely? I noticed something interesting, when first turning on my notebook, there was no fan movement, and then hitting silent mode turned them on to a slow rate.

    Anyhoo, I just cleaned out all my fans/heatsinks yesterday, applied some IC diamond 7 thermal paste (woo for 8C cooler max temps!), etc.

    my idle temps are in the 20's for my cpu cores, and 35-40 for my gpu. HDD is an OCZ vertex SSD, so ya, no worry about temps there :D, they're probably like 20-30C

    so do let me know!

    I can't tell you for sure but just monitor your temperatures and there's nothing to worry about. I wouldn't think that the silent mode turns them off completely, the fan should spin very slowly but enough to get the hot air out.

    what does it say in top left of screen when you press the button. does it say off after first press as it should do or does yours say on.
    sound like something iffy is going on there.
