    I am new to this forum so please go easy...I am also just getting up to speed in laptops so here goes...

    I am in the market for a desktop replacement and have narrowed my choices to the following...but I cant find one that covers all my bases:

    ASUS W90VP-A1 or SAGER NP5797 or SAGER NP9262 (if I can find one)

    1) What is your budget?==> $3000 +/- $250

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?==>Desktop Replacement 17"+ screen

    3) Where will you buying this notebook?==>USA, internet, specialty

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

    Heard many good things about SAGER/CLEVO, not sure about ASUS

    5) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?

    50% Gaming==>RTS, Action (FPS), and Role Playing
    25% General==>Spreadsheet, Quicken, MS Word
    25% Multi-MEDIA==>Family pix/movie editing, music ripping

    6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?

    Leaving it on my desk...limited to home<->work

    7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games or types of games?

    Yes..see #5 above. I prefer the RTS genre (Supreme commander, etc.) but also like RTS-ACTION, FPS, and ROLE PLAYING.

    8) How many hours of battery life do you need?

    I plan to keep it plugged in most of the time.

    9) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?

    On-line is OK as long as there is a warantee or return policy.

    10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.

    Everything I have is XP...like the fact that Vista uses >3 Gigs of RAM but not sure if I should just wait until W7

    Screen Specifics

    11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?

    WUXGA - 1920x1200

    12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?

    Prefer matte but glossy OK...not a deal breaker.

    13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?

    No...want a well-constructed unit first then stylish if possible.

    14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?

    I want to buy in the next 4-8 weeks...would like to "future-proof" as much as possible.

    15) How much hard drive space do you want; 80GB to 500GB? Do you want a SSD drive?

    Would like to carry most things with me...I like the idea of eSATA drives to help with storage. Maybe multiple drive options...80GB SSD for programs and 320/500 GB for data ??

    16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?

    Yes, preferably a DVD burner (for home movies). I dont have a lot of Blue Ray experience but this may be more important for the future ??

    ASUS W90:excellent hardware except slow quad

    SAGER NP9262: buy in a minute but no eSATA & where to find these days?

    SAGER NP5797: nice unit but HD space limited

    Looking forward to hear the advice...Thanks
