I could come upon a ati 3850 from an MSI laptop and since my 2090 is out of warranty i think i will try fitting a 3850 to this laptop.

has anyone even done this, the card is a MMX 2.1 so it should card. i have an extra 120w power supply that should provide it enough power just incase it need more power. has anyone even thought about this before let me know.

    i don“t think it will work out..#

    2 reasons:

the compal FL90 is using MXM 2.1 Type II, the 3850 should be Type III.
The Thermal of 9600M GT is much lower then the 3850, so it would runt oo hot

It will not work. The longer MR HD 3850 will simply not fit into the FL90 chassis. The MXM slot is too close to the chassis.

oh ok, i could not find any info on the type of card it was only that its MXM 2.1 and no types. i guess its back to find a 4650 with DDR3 and not 2. i know that one works, i once had my friends one installed for one week.

Your best option is the Mobility Radeon HD 4670 with GDDR3 which was offered in some MSI notebooks. But it's very rare.

BTW, you can find all information about your Sager 2090 in this forum.
