Anandtech just dropped a great review, not sure if it was already posted on this forum of the 8150. Their machine also came with the same matte screen that the 8130 has in it.

They seem to have the right idea, but Eurocom's pricing etc are a bit out of whack... That said I would have taken a $66 6970m instead of a 485m for $499 even if it was ES probably

Wow, excellent! I'm going to read it now.

ABOUT TIME. GOD. Where do I buy?
Forgot to mention this old thing..
6.98 lbs (with 8-cell battery)
Heck yes n_n -
It looks as if the 6970m is better then the 485m... it beats it and is cheaper. I hope it comes out before mine goes into phase 3 but it is unlikely.
I also remember people saying that the 6970m would have switchable graphics like in thr m17x... He points out that is not the case in the p150 -
The noise is an interesting point and an issue for me since I have one on order for use in an office environment as well as gaming at night. It would be interesting if someone who had a 8150/8130 could do a youtube video of just using the laptop for normal office tasks to gauge the noise.
-
the 6970m looks really good, too bad i couldnt wait i had to go with the more expensive variant 485m

Looks like it gains on the 485M when AA is turned up. But this card could be a bit faster now with the improvements in 11.2 and 11.4 beta (they probably used the older 11.1 eurocom drivers).
-
For some reason I thought the extra battery life would be much longer than 30ish minutes compared to the 485m

Looking forward to May/June when both the 6970m and the new SSDs from Intel and Crucial hit the market. I suppose the only downsides might be the unusual keyboard layout and the huge power draw making battery life more or less a non-issue and more useful as a Uninterrupted Power Supply unit.
-
There's still a lack of GTX 485m drivers out, that might be also a factor in performance vs the 6970m...just two cents.
-
the 6970 is def the best value atm - if you can get one.
-
Aside from the engineering samples currently available (even the linked review mentions this), none of the reseller representatives on the forums here have given any indication of availability other than for the X7200 (No Sandy Bridge!)
-
@trvelbug.. but at this point, i'm kinda tired of waiting lol. i figured that i could keep waiting for the newest and greatest, or i could take the plunge. decided on the latter cuz i'd never get a laptop otherwise.
that 6970 is appealing though....... -
-
Wait till the card (6970M) gets proper HS, Bios and drivers. It's still far away from showing its full potential.
-
The only samples out there are Engineering samples with the wrong heatsinks
-
well amd is good on performance per watt...........
see this hd6850, the fastest desktop card which "without 6 pin pcie power">>75w max
???HD6850 Green - ???? -
However, i do use my laptop for video editing also and nvidia just has the upper hand there. This is especially true if you use adobe premiere pro that only supports nvidia gpus thru cuda. -
What other things does the nvidia card offer over the 6970? WHat are they used for? Would they make any difference to a regular user?
Looks like the 6970 is up as an option for the p150 on the Clevo site. That has to mean it'll be out for the resellers soon right? -
^^ Good find. Yes, if not a typo we may see it soon

6970M is just a killer deal right now... no brainer for me now which card I want
-
The does have one downside combared to the 485m though - decreased battery life. A P150 with a 485m lasts 3 hours on WLAN surfing, but with a 6970m it lasts 2 hrs. This may be enough reason to seek a 485m for some.
It would also come in handy if 120hz replacement screens get available.
Oh, and the 6970m results in considerably more noise in idle because it's hotter. -
-
-
^^ I think someone's and AMD fan
I agree though, it'll be interesting to see a finalized 6970m in action.. Also to see what changes for the 485m when it gets a proper update -
^^ Guilty as charged...

Would the screen on this laptop be the same as (or similar in quality to) the Sager NP8130 / Clevo P151HM1?
I've been looking at the Sager 8130 and considering an upgrade for a "95% color gamet" matte screen -- but by the sound of the AnandTech review, maybe the standard matte display would be good enough for me. -
The 95% screen is very superior.
-
I am the kind of guy that would be filling a Clevo full of ES stuff anyway. $66 is fair. Saves me time and money.
Eurocom guys were selling 460m cards on eBay a while back for $250 US. $316 is fair for an ES. Heck how many of us would buy right now if we could at that price?
I love my MBP, but I know in 12 months I'll be wanting the power of a 6970M or 485M.
You guys will have lots of fun with these.
