So how did you do the mod? Would it work on any laptop?
Looks like the sub will easily fit L and W wise. H wise it should just about clear.
Do you think it would hurt the amp if I hooked both subs up in parallel? It'd be a 2 ohm load.

The sound is obviously louder but the sound profile is all messed up. Try to foam the air hole to get tighter bass. You lose some dB and bass peaks but I think you will still get overall better sound profile. You need to also tune the EQ a bit more.DaMafiaGamer likes this. -
I'm aware of that, but need the new sub first. The unclean bass is mostly caused by the subwoofer being at it's limit.
As you also heard, in the stock drivers not only is it much quiter, but some frequencies are simply missing.
EDIT: Looked at it and figured that the 120 - 250hz frequencies were kinda messed up. Fixed it now, the subwoofer makes a much cleaner bass without foaming etc. I need to rework a little bit on the highs as well (those are not as messed up but seem messed up because of my phones microphone + rendering)Last edited by a moderator: Jul 14, 2018 -
LOL it actually worked!! http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/msi-gt72s-subwoofer-installation-m18xr2.821387/
Just need to solder the extension wire to the subwoofer but sounds good.Last edited: Jul 22, 2018MahmoudDewy and DaMafiaGamer like this. -

Mad stuff
. I wish the Clevo had such space. Nonetheless, enjoy the upgrade and keep us posted on how things go.

I can fit another maybe on the other side. Maybe I should do two subs LOLMahmoudDewy and DaMafiaGamer like this.

DaMafiaGamer Switching laptops forever!
I had a plan to do this in my alienware 18, I would advise against it. It will defo overload the amp and damage it, I have had that happen way too often in the past. And that was only with one subwoofer!MahmoudDewy likes this. -

I see @DaMafiaGamer beat me to it
That's too much for the Amp.DaMafiaGamer likes this. -
So I ordered a GT72 sub to replace my stock P770dm sub - it's on the way. Is there much risk of overloading?
-
No, as you can see from SSJs post, you rather have issue with underpowering it.
-
I mean is there risk of overloading the amp and destroying it. Because I was also thinking of an option where I keep my stock sub and hook the GT72 sub in parallel with it (using the HDD bay for space)
-
That's a horrible idea, either wire another amp into your system, or replace your sub, I would not go for 2 subs through 1 amp, the amp has enough difficulties handling the GT72 at its own as it is.
-
Yeah I'm actually thinking of adding another amp for the sub - I hooked up the sub today and the amp seems kinda weak for it. Does anyone know the power rating of the GT72 sub?
Also SBX is pretty bad - any suggestions to replace SBX? @Danishblunt I think you mentioned Dolby Digital Home Theatre V4 in a similar thread.Last edited: Jul 29, 2018 -
Dolby Plus does boost it a bit but doesn't fix the issues, it's the best "normal" solution as of now.
-
After looking at the P770DM service manual subwoofer section schematic it seems to me that there is a second amplifier block that could be put to use - maybe a second sub could be wired to pins 11-15, following the same wiring structure as the existing sub wired into pins 27-31. What do you guys think?

wow good find. Yeah you might be able to do something with that.
