You guys might have some advice on this one. The sound "pops" slightly everytime a new sound is played. It's slight, but annoying. For examle, instead of the nice clean "clicks" that IE gives as you navigate around, you hear a pop-click. It's really noticable with headphones or speakers.
Seems like a driver related issue, but I have the correct driver installed. Any ideas?

I have those "pop" with Xmod, not sure why, but very annoying.

Call Sager support for help with that

Those include all PowerPro and Crown models, and the Sager NP579x, NP926x and now the NP8660. -
maybe I should call Justin up for a little chat. (2:35am here) LOL

Xoticpc's 24/7 support only covers the same Sager models that we do. Of course Nirvana your NP5793 is covered.
The night shift is on the job...your night is their day -
Now that makes me ask why this model isn't under that 24/7 support?

All PowerPro and Crown models are covered, as well as all Force models from Xoticpc, but only Sager models with base prices of over $1,500 are covered.

No worries guys... if I was looking for support I'd be on the phone, not the forums (thanks for the tip though Donald). Moreso than just getting something fixed, I'm interested in trying to figure out what causes it in the first place.
Besides, in this case... I HIGHLY doubt there is anything wrong with the laptop at all. This seems very much like a software/driver based issue. -
Interesting, thanks for clearing that up

Do you notice any difference in the noise if you run the system off battery power alone? Does it happen only with short Wav sounds like the ones used in Windows sound schemes or is it true of any kind of sound you play? If you navigate to the C:\Windows\Media folder and try to play the sound scheme files there directly from Sound Recorder or Media Player does the pop happen as well or only when Windows triggers them as a result of your actions? Have you installed any codec packs that might have changed your default wave output?

I started to test all the things you suggested, and then I realized that it wasn't doing it at all anymore. I thought... gee, that's odd, because the only thing I'd changed was my stereo headphones to my headset. I figured I was about to feel really really stupid because it was clearly some type of weird incompatibility with my headphones, so I put the old ones back in, and it's still not doing it.
About an hour ago I installed an updated Intel graphics driver and then played some dota. Maybe the graphics driver included a chipset package and fixed it. I'll let you know if it returns.
lol.

Glad to hear it's working. One thing I should mention is that I asked about the laptop being plugged in because sometimes ground loop interference makes all sorts of weird hums and pops occur when the system is on AC power. My PowerPro G 3:8, for instance, makes a noise like an old school dot matrix printer whenever sound is actively playing. If you've tested with both AC and battery power, it probably had nothing to do with that. Anyway, let us know if it comes back for any reason.

It's back.
Running on battery power doesn't affect it. And the sound files themselves do it directly from the windows folder. In fact, it's any sound the computer is making at all. Feels like there's a bit of static just as each sound is initialized. I'm too tired to search more tonight, I'll be back in the morning.
Thanks a ton for the ideas. -
Have you, perchance, tried completely uninstalling your sound drivers and then reinstalling them?
