Hey guys,
I was curious if anyone on the forums was a college student with the 5793 or recently purchased one for college. How do you find the size in terms of transporting it around campus? Any issues thus far (I am hoping they are pretty issue free, I have a feeling if I brought it in to my college's tech support theyd look at me funny)
While it is a 17 inch it seems relatively slim compared to say the dimensions of the M1730 my friend just bought for college. Not sure he realizes how big that beast is. Its going to be tough to carry haha. It seems the Sager is the best thing in my price range (sub 2600) and I am hoping it will be able to ship by when I need it but thats another matter.
Thanks for the help!

I would recommend getting a really nice and comfy backpack that you wouldn't mind carrying for a while. And... I guess work out at little as despite the relatively small dimensions, it will tire you out if you have to walk building to building.

Its not a featherweight but it isnt as big as the xps1730. It has a wedge shape so the backs are thicker than the front. The back thickness is as thick as the xps 1730 and then it slowly decreases coming down.

If you get one I would recommend strongly that you keep it away from the college tech support people...if it isn't way over their heads, you may find it difficult to get it back from them once they see its performance
Also, if you buy from PowerNotebooks.com or Xoticpc.com it will come with 24/7 DOMESTIC telephone tech support and a return to depot warranty (that is the Sager factory) with shipping paid both ways. Keep it in the hands of those who would most likely know what they are doing with it. -
free shipping both ways? DANG, thats nice. Does that count for replacing it in the first couple days for frivolous things like dead pixals?

Do you know what the dead pixel warranty policy is?
More than 5, or even 1 if it is in the center square on your screen (#). Otherwise it is not a warranty issue.
You can however rely on your 30 day total satisfaction guarantee, and send it back for a refund and buy another one. You pay the shipping in that case, and you get a refund of your purchase price, not including the original shipping charge. -

Er, didn't I answer that with the last sentence that you quoted?
"You pay the shipping in that case, and you get a refund of your purchase price, not including the original shipping charge." -

Please, oh please, do not be THAT guy who brings his 35" laptop to class. Use paper & pen to take notes.
PS. chicks don't dig over sized laptops..... -
How would you know? Honestly, if a girl honestly thinks that much about a laptop, or uses it as a reason not to like you then she's one of the shallowest on the planet.
I'm a girl and I couldn't give a flying f*ck how big a guy's laptop is or how it looks (unless it's annoyingly flashy; then i'd just be annoyed because it's annoyingly flashy, not because it's a laptop) -
I have been carrying my 12 pound D900K with me for over 2 years now.
Its good to have a nice & comfortable notebook backpack... you get used to it quickly. -

i'll be transporting the m570tu around campus soon enough.

Chicks dig Macs...get one if you want to be "loved" by the opposite ***.
Anyone strong enough (backside wise) or that doesn't carry much inside the backpack can deal with a 8lbs laptop. But for taking notes I guess that a smaller, 13" or so laptop would fit the bill.
PS: The word "***" shouldn't be censored. Not everyone's a nerd.

I am a Sager NP5793 owning college student.

I bought the NP5796 and plan on using it in college. I don't plan on carrying it around at all except from home to school and back and maybe the library if I really need it. Seems like it should be okay.
-
I plan on carrying it where ever I go and getting a work out from it all at the same time!
Any 5793/5796 owners in college?
