Hi, just wondering, do current models have Coaxial Out as one of the audio ports? Or just Optical Out as per usual?

    Thanks!

All the current models I can think of use S/PDIF optical out, though they're 3.5mm ports (not the TOSLINK connection).

You would need an external break our box or adapter in order to take a coax out, tbh I don't know of any laptops which have a coax out via what is in essence an RCA/photo jack.

P.S. S/PDIF is the optical format which is mostly availabvle with either TOSLINK or RCA jacks

Thanks, based on what I am seeing so far, looks like I may have to resort to those converters after all; coaxial out for desktops are hard to find too

Coax was basically phased out in favour of TOSLINK. Even TOSLINK is on the borderline and only still sees use in studios.

For consumer gear HDMI+Displayport overtook it with far higher bandwidth.

What do you actually need the to plug in which is coax? If it's only 2-channel you're probably better off with a good unshielded cable. If it's multi-channel it won't have the bandwidth to support any modern surround compression anyway.

I am planning to get a new external DAC soon (Schiit Modi Multibit) and want to see if I can connect my Clevo (and future Clevo) to it via coax. Looks like TOSLINK/optical is the way to go
