    Hi,

Ok, so i just ordered a new Clevo P150hm and i couldn't be happier with my choice. However, i there is still the fact that it made a large dent in my pocket. With this in mind i would like to know any tips, advice or places to find infomation on how to preserve and prolong the life and condition of my laptop and make the money i spent last.

Realistically i would like it to last 2-3 years. But the more the better. I would like for the life of my laptop to not be determined by when it will break but rather by when the hardware will be outdated. And, i would like to minimize the risk of hardware failures.

Can anyone with experience give me some advice, or just refer me to somewhere i can find it - how can i prolong the life of my new laptop?

    Thanks and much appreciated.

Ok, I'm going to answer myself a little bit here. As it turns out it is not hard to find information on the subject. Here is a decent list of tips mainly pertaining to battery preservation and one tip about not carrying laptop around with cables plugged in.

Still, if there is any advice out there that is particularly catered for Sager/Clevo laptops, that would be great.

Keep it clean and watch your temps; heat breaks down components over time. Also, don't cheap out on the case. I don't know how many people I've seen drop three grand on a machine, then try to save $20 on the bag.

As mentioned already, keep it clean. Use lint-free cloths to wipe the keyboard the screen, and use compressed air every once in a while on the vents to keep them clear of dust.

Use care when handling the machine. Don't go overboard, but at the same time, don't do things like picking it up by the lid.

Basic common sense rules the day.

What do you mean "cheap out on the case"? When i ordered my Clevo i didn't "choose" a case. I don't plan on dropping my laptop.

As for keeping down the heat temperatures does anyone have any information as to how i may keep my laptop cool?

What do you mean by "use compressed air"? I'm very new to this scene and clarifications or explanations would help me understand.

    Thanks.

Compressed air comes in cans and can be purchased at any office supply or computer store. It's primarily used to keep dust off of computer cooling systems and circuit boards. The less dust there is, the cooler the system will run.

Oh ok. Sounds like it's worth looking into thanks

I am just doing some research into laptop coolers. Does anyone use them?

Are they a good idea and are there any you would recommend?
