Any backlit keyboard mods for Clevo laptops?

So I am awaiting the arrival of my Sager NP8130 and I couldn't be more excited. It covers all the bases I need for my secondary laptop minus one niggling complaint: absence of backlit keys. I know this is not a priority for everyone, but it is for me. I've grown accustomed to using one and am not happy about going without it on this model.

Obviously, I can live with not having them if there's nothing that can be done about it, hence this topic.

Is anyone aware of a backlit key mod? Whether a company sells a Clevo compatible backlit keyboard, or really anything?

I'm not looking for crazy lights, just standard white backlit keys.

Also, I've heard rumors Clevo is going to be addressing this in the near future. If they do, is it reasonable to assume I could purchase a backlit keyboard from them compatible with my 8130 and install it myself?

The problem for any kind of backlit keyboard mod is that it would require a separate power source that the current ribbon cable connection probably can't do. Others have reported using glow in the dark style sticker sets, but I haven't seen anything with a powered backlit solution. Odds are that if/when a backlit keyboard does exist, it probably won't be backward compatible with the models that don't currently have one due to the need for power.

Very true. There's nothing much we can do at this point. Let's hope Clevo starts offering BL KB's with Ivy.

At the last tradeshow Clevo had a prototype P150HM with a backlit keyboard. They will probably be on the next models, not the current gen though.

Yep, it was confirmed that the keyboard on the next model is non-standard and won't fit into the current slot, beyond the fact that it would require more power.

So does anyone know when the next models will be coming out? Because if it is within the next month, I may reconsider when I purchase mine...

I don't believe that Ivy Bridge is expected until next year.
